    9 volt race frame

Anybody heard of a conversion for a race frame to take 9 volt batteries? Just curious.

LOL... They sell 9v race frames. You can buy them straight from RaceGun, yet they do have their disadvantages. First off, the 9v model doesnt last as long as the rechargable with a full charge. Secondly, you don't have the ability to modify your grips settings with a PalmPilot with the 9v model... don't ask me why, but ya cant

If I remember correctly the NiMH rechargeable ones came out first. Due to the cost of the battery and recharger, along with the required programming to monitor the power level (built into the Racegun firmware) the grips cost a lot more then many people were willing to pay. Also, a lot of people (for some reason I can't fathom) like to waste money on 9vs rather then just plugging their marker in before a day of play. This crowd was big on the "I like the freedom of 9vs - that way if my battery dies at the field I can change it" or some nonsense to that effect.

Anyhow the 9v frames were created in response to customer demand. I think a lot was left out to keep the cost down and they referred to them as "race-lite" or something like that. Anyhow, I think most of the 9vs were marketed through a US company - before the Racegun bankruptcy reorg. Now I don't think they will touch the things. I believe that you can get them upgraded to the full version, but can't remember.

All in all the 9vs aren't worth it in my mind. Spend the extra $100 for the rechargeable with the features.

BTW, The 9v Race works WAY better then an E-blade and gets MUCH, MUCH better gas mileage on a 9v. This is due to the superior design of the Race, it uses a falling sear vs. the E-blades big honking noid which pushes up to drop the sear.

All in all the Race is equal to the betamax of the paintball world - superior product, poorly marketed and company fraught with management issues lags behind the Eclipse.

Also, Warpig has a review - don't remember if it is 9v or rechargeable.
