Emag trigger shoe idea

Practical or impractical? Here a an idea that has probablly been noted here on AO. If not...Patent pending haha!!


Ive come up with a relatively practical and cheap idea on affixing trigger shoe on the emag trigger, effectively turning it into a blade trigger. The main feature of this mod, once accomplished, is it will allow you to convert a double trigger into a blade trigger(and vice versa) by adding/removing 2 grub screws. It may involve drilling a pair of holes in the stock trigger, which was a primary concern, but the screw holes should not affect the trigger at all.

The trigger shoe in its refined form, it could be a precision milled peice of hardware. But for the quick and easy aproach, the shoe could be stamped out.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. You would have to make sure to keep everything small enough that it didn't interfere with the swing of the trigger.

two notes I have for the idea. And its a good one.

1) make the sides go back further to cover the hump in the trigger, more asthetically pleasing

2) just use two 4-40 set-screws (or 2-52 if you must) to hold it in on the top. It will work fine and you wont need to drill the trigger whatsoever

Or you can go to the dealers foruma dn check out Coolhands Blade trigger that he designed for the e/x-mag. Logicpaintball.com is his web site and I thnk you will like the trigger. It is probably the dame size as the shoe you are thinking about. The adjustments on the trigger are very user friendly and if you find that pesky ref at a tournament chatting that the reactive trigger is illegal you can turn a set screw out in the trigger to keep the trigger rod from ever making contact with the trigger, effectively taking out the reactivity along with the manual/hybrid modes. I have this bad johnson and it is awesome!!!!!! Just something to think about and a shameless plug for an excellent trigger and dealer.

I would think that an advantage to the shoe idea is that your warranty would still be intact on the Emag, particularly if no drilling is required.

And I believe you need to switch stuff around on coolhands to get it into manual, I could be wrong, but that would be another adjvantage this has

Definitely not,Coolhands is about the perfect solution to an E/XMAG blade trigger.I'll take it over this any day of the week.

But if you'd like to drive grup screws into the side of your stock $40 trigger,go for it.

I suppose in an ideal setting, AGD could sell future emags with pre-tapped holes and an included trigger shoe. Albiet a better lookin and feeling one. The proccess of fabrication could be as complex and as CNC milling or as simple as stamped high strenght aluminum. Anyway thanx for your thoughts. Prototypes anyone?

i think you're over-complicating this...
just use a plastic shoe and some small set screws to clamp it in place... no drilling required

basically it'd be exactly like a cocker slide trigger shoe, only longer

it'd be comfortable and it'd wrap around the sides to hide the double trigger and look purdy

the only thing im not sure about with this is how wide it'd make the trigger..

A plastic/composite trigger shoe, sounds compelling, it could be simple as a snap on fitiment, maybe affied with some VHB (very higb bond) double sided tape, very sticky stuff. As far as width goes, the current emag trigger is about a 1/4'. 3/8' could be an ideal shoe width. My only concern is finding a composite thats not so brittle at 1/16' to 1/8' thickness. Thnx for your comment. Except for ***** bag.

one problem with the second idea (carbon's):

You can not have two tapped surfaces matted with a grub screw. It could not be tightened. What would work is a 6-32 scew that goes through the trigger into the tapped hump thing that you designed. Just a little mechanical engineering 101

I still like the TL63 better though

trigger shoes don't have to withstand a nuclear blast. if they'll hold for some minimal pulling, its fine. two setscrews on the sides (one on each) is more than plenty to hold it on. thats what friction is for.

you're making this WAY too complicated.

this should sell for, at tops, $10.00 + SH
