i never had that one, but i did own a jaguar back in the day, and reciently owned one again (2 years ago). i then went to trade it to kevmaster, who, as far as i know, still playes games with it once in a while.

i did happen to get one of those NIB VM-68's that were posted about amonth or so ago. man did that bring back memories!!!!!!!!

my markers from back in the day:

    PMI-3
    cobra
    jaguar
    68 special
    PGP
    phantom

all i half miss, all i had some great times with. when i sold off all my gear in 95 and left the sport altogther (college) it was almost sad.

when i got back into it 3 years ago, i started where i left off; and got myself a phantom. i would still like to find a cobra though......i think.

thanks for the memories. imagine what what speedball would be like if we still all had 4 pumps and a semi that got 4bps on our team? my guess is a faster game!!!

My first gun was also a Poison (essentially a mini Golden Eagle). The first two times I used it, it was awesome- it had a horrible trigger pull, but in those days when people heard a semi chugging away they couldn't help but gravitate towards it, or run away from it On the test range at our local site it always drew a crowd, as up to that point the only other semi I had ever seen was a Tippmann 68 Special.

The third time I used it, at a tournament, just about everything that could break, broke The airline seals leaked, the screw on the donkey stripped so the donkey flapped around, and the external cocking rod started to shear by the bolt. Nightmare. I took it back to the store I bought it from (Belsales- excellent lads and great customer service) and swapped it + some cash for a Tippmann '68 special. The Special was a serious piece of kit and I regret ever selling it- it just felt great to fire- lots of movement, a big cloud of liquid CO2 and a lovely noise. Fantastic.

After a few more tourneys I saw someone using a L6 Automag- he was just walking around holding this toylike tube at arms length and shooting beams of paint at every bush that moved. I had to have one, and have never used anything else since....

Great days though, when semis were the "new thing". The big argument between Sterling STP pump owners and Mag owners was great fun (the accuracy vs rate of fire debate). I always argued that a Mag using quality paint was just as accurate however! It's taken all this time for someone to put in the research and qualify the argument (TOM)!

I wish I could say I remember those days. But the first time I played I rented a brand new spyder 1 or classic or whatever.

I remember seeing ads for that model, but I never saw one on the field. The Poisons and Jaguars were popular semis that I recall from ten years ago. They were troublesome, but when they worked, they seemed to spit a lot of paint! Since most people only had pumps, a semi was regarded as an almost unfair advantage.

I remember buying bags of 100. I also remember buying tubes of 10!

sime - My local field owner recently uncovered some Cobras and Poisons that were used as rentals long ago by a field he bought out. He is willing to sell them as packages, since for some reson he only has 1/2 the grip frames he needs. You

              jeffy,

if i can get a complete cobra, for say $100 tops. i'm up for it!!! it of course depends on condition, if they were rentals, i can just imagine the shape they are in. the design was a tank, with the exection of the pump arm, and how it attatched to the bolt/hammer.

please, pretty please, with some form of sweetener on top, e-mail me about it:

              [email protected]

i can already feel happy about the prospect of shooting that beast again!!!!

Another thing- while the Golden Eagle may seem unwieldy and low-tech, Barts Stud Squad, captained by Bart Farmer, used the Eagle exclusively and took UK paintball by storm, they were one of the most respected teams for some time... Sadly we never got to play them, but my team did play several of the other big teams of the time- NWS, Bad Company and the Predators.
