    heres what you do...

    1) stress the safety precautions you will have...mandatory masks, netting, chronos, barrel condoms...and dont just tell them show them what they are and do. insurance...etc.

    2) have documentation up the whazoo, dont just talk let them read it in writing.

    3) get letters from people who know...best would be other public officials who are in favor of the good points of PB. look at the article on warpig about a town in fla that has a city owned PB field.

    4) counter their hick townie phobias with real people...PB moms in favor of a legal field for their kids to play at, talk to local cops, the chief, and offer them a free place to do training. local church youth group leaders...more and more holy rollers are getting down with pb as a safe fun youth activity...bring a preacher in and see the mood change.

    5) and last but not least...show them the money. if your proposal has your expected income in there they will see the advantage of letting you open up because a lucrative tax source is better than an empty lot.

Got a call from someone involved w/ the zoning board and such. He gave me a ton of pointers on how to win the case. He told me simply to tell them i'm spending over a quarter of a million dollars on this project and theres no way on earth i'm gonna let idiots come in and vandalize property. As well as explaining how many people a week this can bring in and go to gas stations ,ect. I'm debating whether or not to bring in a youth pastor/ church pastor and a police captian. I do know i am getting signed letters from 1/2 a dozen youth pastors .

            funny story.

when the local field by me in NE ohio opened in the mid 80's their neighbors...only neighbors, they are way out in the sticks. their neighbors this old hillbilly couple protested that it was too dangerous and people would get hurt being "shot" all the time, the usual 80's anti militia hooplah bs. a couple years later the 'ol lady actually shot the husband with a .38 cuz he drank the last beer one afternoon. and to this day nobody has died at the PB field.

No, I can't, because it's not true. Well, they may have a law on the books that does it, but no munincipality in the US can ban the possession of air guns by adults. They can ban the discharge of them (and you shouldn't be discharging airguns willy nilly anyway) and they can ban their possession by minors, but any charges filed against you for having an airgun are quick fodder for a lawyer.

                  More on point...

Where in OH is this? When is the next meeting? I might be able to lend you a college team....

But generally, you should do nothing. Someone out there doesn't like the idea of a field for whatever reason, your best bet in the short term is to pretty much ignore them and deal with the zoning board directly. Making a bigger issue out of it isn't going to hurt anyone but you.

I have an official environmental impact study about paintballs done by Western Annalissis. I can send it out to you if you think it would help.

                          Help from the Ohio CPPA

                          Hey Nitroduck...

I'm the Secretary for the Ohio Christian Paintball Player's Association. I know Dan, our State Coordinator has contacted you about a future relationship between your field, and our organization.

First off, sorry to hear about this mess you've experienced! Ignorance is NOT a fun thing.

I'm going to speak on behalf of the state board of the Ohio CPPA and say "We'll help however you need us to." We can write letters, and maybe one of us can even show up to help present your case. We're ALL about responsible play, and setting good social examples to players around us (of course.)

Drop me a PM if there's anything we can help. Try my AIM at: DJ Crime Dog

We'll be praying for God's will to be done man!

A letter from the CPPA would help , a college team endorsement would also fly well too.

We're gonna REALLY start just worrying with the zoning board rather than the people complaining. Thier complaints aren't legit. I'm gonna stress that i'm gonna bring in hundreds if not thousands of people per month to this very small place. I'm starting to have the feeling everything is starting to be in my favor.

As for location , we're 15mi south of grove city , i think we're one of the most central Ohio fields other than fran bar.

I could use the enviormental impact study , that was one of the big issues raised at the meeting , they WANTED me to give them paint to see if I was telling the truth. To combat that at the moment , I've planned on going to 2 different fields I know of that use the paint I do and taking pictures of what thier fields look like. But a enviromental study would help a ton.

If you wana check out my site , its.......

Sign up for newsletter if you live in ohio and want updates for the crap we're going though. Another thing i did was contact Bill Mills at warpig , he usually helps the little guy out. I know AGD prolly couldn't as far as i know.

                                We'll help you

                                Hey bro,
We (OHCPPA) will help you however you may need it. I would reccomend contacting RPS, Diablo, Nelson, all paint manufactures and getting Material Safety Data Sheets on their paint to show to the zoning board. Also, if you are dealing with APL Inssurance, show the board all the safety requirements that APL has. Good luck, we'll be prayin!
