    "Lead Time" Revisited, and refined

Ok, let me put a spin on the question.

With no warning, how far would you be willing to drive for a paintball game? Not a tournament, a game. Same queston for 12 hours warning and 24 hours.

(Assuming, naturally, it's on a weekend, and all other factors are in your "Favor")

What kind of motivation would it take to drop what plans you did or didn't have to play in a game that's roughly in your area? Come to think of it, what's your "area"?

Don't ask why I ask. If what I have planned happens, all will be illuminated.

Having a family keeps me from being able to drop anything. However, if the wife and kids were away and I didn’t have anything that HAD to get done I could be ready to go in 15 minutes. If it didn’t affect my family, I’d probably be willing to go. Oh yeah, anything within an hours drive is certainly in my area. Farther than that depends. I’ve gone farther for a day of paintball.

I can't say I go specifically for paintball, but I usually go with my wife on 6 hour drives almost every weekend to see her family. Now if I just happen to end up at the field all weekend, ahh who notices! It helps the field is one of the best around also!!!(Paintball Charleston, SC)

all things being equal (ie no family issues) i could be out the door in 10 mins and i would drive oh an hour to an hour and a half to play. the farther, the better the reason has to be. :)

If I had a car or a ride I would say 5 hours for either 12 or 14 hour notice.

With no notice, 45min to 1 hour drive.

            12hr notice - 2 hours

24hr notice - 7 hours (It would have to be good like a killer big game or scenario game)

No warning at all -- about an hour(any decent fields around me are about that far away)

12 or 24 hours notice -- I've driven three hours to play in walk-on games.

Three hours is just about the limit for just playing. Big games, Scenerios, Tournies, and AO days are a different story, and I plan to do more of the events this season.

                With no warning: 1 hour...at most 1 1/2 hours.
                12 hours: 2-3 hours.
24 hours: 2-3 hours unless there were special circumstances, then maybe 6.

My area: Raleigh, NC. We have 5 fields within 1 hour. If you extend that out to two hours, I think you can add 2 more. Unless I'm missing some fields.

With no warning, 1.5-2 hours' drive would be acceptable. That would easily get me to the Milwaukee area, far suburbs of Chi-town, and Indiana. For that, it would have to be something special because if it's not, I'd say, "Screw you guys, I'm going to Badlandz!"

I'd honestly have to say about the same for 12 and 24 hours' notice. Anything farther than two hours' drive and I'd want to make sure my car is up for the drive and I can't guarantee even 24 hours is enough time for it.

It all depends on how much fun it will be, for just normal play I would be willing drive around 2 hours round trip. For killer games I would go maybe 4 hours round trip or more depending on how cool the game will be. I would do any of this on a whim just as long as I didn't have homework or ROTC shizzle to do.

Why did you bring this question up? Was it because you had a friend that always whines about not having enough time to get ready or he has to drive to far or something.

                      1.)1 hour
                      2.)2 hours
                      3.)2.5 hours

Not far but If I had like a mnths notice and it was a big game like the north cal vs. socal (I CAN'T BE THERE!!!! AHHH!!!) I would drive like 6

                          Wouldn't happen.

If I could be playing, I would be playing.

                          Maybe under extraordinary circumstances.......

Then again, I did fly out to Vegas for a paintball MEETING after deciding to about 5 days in advance.....

But i dont really need to go far, i have all the great fields in the chicagoland area
