AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Can you tell me what happened? (paintball airburst)
I was firing a guys new emag once, and this happened a bunch of times. His LX wasn't set up properly, and we kept thinking we were getting barrel breaks.
So we'd unscrew the barrel and look inside. Clean. Same inside the marker and on the bolt. No paint. But it looks just like a barrel break.
After it happening a couple more times (and us watching more carefully) we realized it was one slow ball popping out of the barrel and then another coming out really fast behind it.
Really cool to see.
Actually, not really that cool. Looks just like a barrel break (at least, in this situation it did).

Mr. W.: I hope my LX isn't messed up. I got it like this from the factory. Just in case this keeps on happening can you tell me what your friend to stop this type of problem? Thank you.

All I meant by messed up was not set up properly, the marker was brand new and he'd never even gassed it up before, just so eager to shoot it he didn't bother to tinker with the LX.

so your saying his lx had to be broken in, like bolt stick, oiling, barrel leak, right?

No, like he just had the wrong combination of spacers and wrong carrier (or, in this case, the right amount).

When you chuff or prevent a chop with your lvl 10, you will get that one ball to practically roll out of the barrel, and when you are shooting that fast, one will ram that slow one right in the butt, making a pretty P.I.M.P effect :]
I have the video of the racegun exploding a ball outside the barrel but don't know how to post it up here. If anyone could give me instructions, I'd be willing to do so.
hmmm I've never seen that happen on an RT or X, but with my timmy I've had two balls collide in a long string. Didn't mean anything to me except that I was shooting too fast

Yeah, you were shooting too fast and shootdown occured (like bigtime), otherwise a difference in velocity that was small (like 50 fps, just guessing here) wouldn't have exploded right out of the barrel, much less anywhere before the balls collided with something else.
I think there's a thread about this somewhere, having to do with a gun that could supposedly shoot so fast that two balls would be in the barrel at once and cause problems, but it was disproved.
Anyone got a link?

No link but here, if you are shooting 300 fps and 30 bps, there is a 10 foot gap between each paintball. You would have to have some pretty severe dropoff to get one paintball to slam into another and break just out of the barrel. If it happened 30 feet out of the barrel, It took the second ball the same amount of time to travel as far as the shot before it, that means the slow shot had a drop off of 150 fps. Not likely. You would have noticed dropoff that bad, and the RT valve sure as hell doesen't have that much shootup.
I would say it is a fluke or bad paint, especially because my example was at 30 bps, not a more realistic number. If it were 10 or 15 bps, the marker would have had to displayed shootdown in excess of 200 fps less.
Someone correct me if you don't agree with my calculations, but I think I explained it fairly well.
Cobalt DM4 Team Synapsis THE GARDNER BROS ARE AS COOL AS HERPES
^ You're calculations are good, but when it happens with an RT/X Mag, the first ball almost literally rolls out of the barrel (thinkin like <1 fps) and the second comes screaming out at 300 fps, so that's how it happens right out of the barrel.
You're math does, however, disprove this 'phenominom' from happening in velocity flux situations.
