As a whole,the primary difference is the ram vs. spring.

Discounting eyes and such that can be added to both.

if you think about it, almost every open bolt electropneumatic is like a spyder. they are all blow forward design, just things can be switched around, and different solenoids, boards, eyes, etc. i may be wrong, but that is just IMO.

Just kidding. The "Blowback" design is by far the most common.The mag valve is pretty unique as well as the spool valve.There's only so many practical and basically effecient ways to quickly release a large volume of high pressure gas.

The only similarity is the body, every single other thing is different. Dont be a smart anus (dont want to get banned for having the three *'s now do I? ) and say that screws and stuff are the same, and they both shoot paint.

Actually the basic functions of the 2 are almost identical.Angel,timmy,Imp,Bush all Ram substituted blowbacks.Just an evolution of the design over time.

I dont understand how a person like yourself became representative of Sexy Turtle Annodizing. You get...body parts stuck in paintball equipment and compare spyders to Intimidators.
Yes everyone said they have similar body styles when they came out...How many years ago was that? Are you drawing your comparision from that age old misconception?

I posted this thread because i wanted to buy a timmy but i have recently heard bad things about it and people comparing them to spyders so i just wanted to see how a timmy could be compared to a spyder.

The first ever timmys used bob long millenium bodies, so that is kind of where that whole thing came from. Dragun Empire just made a kit to turn a spyder into a timmy. People don't realize sometimes the similest designs are the best. Why make something so complicated when you can do it with less parts? Shoot a timmy and then shoot a spyder. The spyder will be less efficent, slower, incosistent, break lots of paint, kick a ton and have a bad trigger pull. Timmys are fast, consistent, softer on paint and have good effienceny. They are great guns and you should definitely look into one.
