I have ordered from them before and I have had no problems at all. One question though, did you fill out a online form or did you call? Everytime I ordered I called the 800 number. It is safer that way, becaue you know that they have the right info and also you can get different options that are not offered on the site for the same price as is what is on the site. Give them one more try if you ever have to order anything again but call and order. It will save you a lot of trouble. Ordering stuff directly from the web is not usualy a good idea. I have only order a few things directly from the web and so far I have had no problems but I did not order form them. They were orders from Dell and Amazon.com. Anyway that stinks that that had to happen to you but people do sometimes screw things up. I thank you though for the warning, if anyone is ever going to order from them call the 800 number. That way you know they have the right info.

            I have a question ?

If most of you seem unhappy about your paintball supplies purchased on line, then why do you buy on line ?

I'm sure most of you have a local dealer near you who would like to sell you product.

You can see and feel the item in person. You know it works. You know you are getting what you pay for. So ... Why do you do it ?

Is saving a buck or too more important than supporting your local dealer (who may have the item in stock for a few more dollars) and remember your dealer prices are higher because they pay for the over-head cost to set up and buy the product ahead of time and to display it in a nice warm or air-conditioned building just so you can come in and take a look at it.

Not to mention if the sales clerk is educated about paintball products and/or is a player who understands your needs ... well ... this clerk doesn't work for free. The store owner must pay his salary as well.

Not to knock online sellers but ... does the person on the phone who takes your order even know the difference between an E-Mag or an EM1 ? Can they explain the functions of either gun to you ? Probably not.

It's most likely that the on-line purchaser has called the local dealer for questions and pricing first. Then goes into that local store to look at and question the clerk to death for about an hour or more on how the product functions.

Then the next step would be too bring your friend(s) with you to that local store to show them what your thinking of buying. And your friends(s) then pick the brains of the sales clerk again and again and again ....

Then the 3rd step ... after all that ... is usually to go back to the local dealer (with your online gun purchase and brag about how cheaper your price was) and to look at and see the upgrades that look best on your gun.

Quite frankly, don't you think that's a bit rude or insulting?

Most of you have such "tunnel vision" on saving a buck on line that you don't realize that this local dealer or field owner in time will close due to lack of sales and profit to keep the store or field open.

            What's next ? On-Line Paintball Games ? That's a thought ! You wouldn't have to spend money on paintballs.

If your local paintball dealer provides you with intelligent conversation, great products on the wall or in the case, has store hours Monday thru Sunday for your convenience, backs the product with warranty and or service ... why not shop local and support this dealer?

            I honestly don't get it.

I don't know if this is the case for everyone, but let me explain my local store.

The easiest store for me to get to is ABC Paintball's shop on Rt. 17 in Ramsey, NJ. Its about 10 minutes from work, so if I need anything, I can go there during lunch. But I try to avoid that place if at all possible. Why? Because the owner is an absolute scumbag who treats his customers like crap. One time I saw him yell at a young player (around 13) until the kid was ready to cry because the kid didn't clean his Pirahna. Another time I saw a guy come in, and he wanted a Spyder Compact. Instead, the owner sold him a $300 stock class gun. The guy obviously knew nothing, and the owner used that to sell him something he basically didn't want.

I've also seen him treating his employees badly, and the one guy who worked there who was knowledgeable about paintball quit because he had to deal with the owner.

On top of dealing with all that crap, his prices are 10% - 25% higher than online stores. Why should I pay more to get crappy service? I have never had a problem ordering from 888 paintball, and they always have seemed knowledgeable in what I was ordering.

If local stores want to compete against online stores for my business, they better bend over backwards to make me happy. It really isn't that hard, its just called being polite. It seems thats a lost art these days.

the only place i ever buy anything paintball related anymore is at CO paintball at their parma shop. they have prices at or very near their online prices and they are nice people. one reason i used to order things online (twice) was that i didnt have my licence or i only knew of very expensive places. there is one shop nearby that sells items for 5% OVER MSRP. im sorry but thats just too much. I still drive over an hour to get to CO, but its worth it.

that you don't realize that this local dealer or field owner in time will close due to lack of sales and profit to keep the store or field open.
that however falls into the catagory of "not my problem". someone else's lack of buisness sence or ability, or just plain bad luck, isnt something i fret over. im sure youve seen the way MANY paintball stores are run. I want to spend my hard earned cash at a nice store, not a place that looks like a bad garage sale indoors.

Sometimes I wonder why these places think we are so dumb. Everyone wants to have an online store but a lot of them do not want to or do not know how to run it after its set up. It seems a status symbol to have one but it's nearly criminal to not run it right. Half of them will not even answer their emails. I do a lot of online business. I have no problems with most of them. This one I will be wary of now.

I've ordered from these guys at least a dozen times in the last year, but I always, always, call to place the order. I browse their site, then place the order with a salesperson. Fortunately, I live just outside the St. Louis area so my orders arrive from Chicago the next day using UPS Ground service.

We have several good retail paintball shops in the area, but in general I would have to swallow pretty hard to pay more for the same merchandise I can buy online. If I need an item right away, I will pay the higher price at the local shop. Everyone wants the best value for their dollar.

Personally, I think most paintball shops have their pricing strategy turned around. They should follow the lead of the mom and pop pet shops that have been around for years. Pet shops sell their little critters for a nominal profit or at cost and make the big profits on all the little trinkets the customer needs to take care of their new pets. Either give the customer a great deal on the markers and sell the paint at a good margin or sell the paint at cost and make it up on the markers and accessories. It nuts to think people will continue to pay $80.00+ for paint they can buy online for less than $48.00.

Let me agree with thordic on the subject of local stores. Here's my situation:

My closest store is about 10 minutes from home, a place called The Perimeter. It's a military surplus store down the road, in a little brick stipmall kinda behind a Blockbuster. Not much paintball stuff at all, really, except for some Tippmanns, Spyders, and the like. They don't have a single Automag part in there (after I bought the one parts kit he had, about 2 years ago). The owner seems nice enough, but he's got a group of local wayward kids who hang out there mercilessly at all hours, and they're the ones you usually have to deal with. None of them know how to properly fill a tank, and when you walk in the store, they're usually out in the back shooting at the dumpster (no goggles, no thoughts given to the people walking/driving nearby). Unless I need a fill while working on my gun at home, I avoid this place.

The next closest is about 30 miles away, TC Paintball. Nice place, generally pretty knowledgable staff, but their prices are sky-high. Unless you want an Angel, Impulse, Shocker, or some other electro, their advice would be "get an electro, they're better". The last time I bought a parts kit there, they charged me $27. I can get it online for $16. Their store is small, and generally there are about 6 or 7 14 year olds hanging out, eating taco bell, and generally getting in the way of other customers. There's 1 emag on the wall, 1 c/f, and that's about it as far as mags go. At least these guys know how to fill a tank, though.

That's about it, there are a few other army/navy stores with a few guns, there's MallWart, and there's online ordering. I have yet spend more than $30 in one shot at a local store.

I order almost all my stuff there. O got my gun there, my tank, remote, harness, and a barrel. The only problem I had was when I ordered a barrel for my alleycat and they sent an Autococker barrel. Well I sent it back and got it back a couple of weeks later. Not that big of a deal. Oh well I dont plan on stop ordering from them either.
