    Independent E-mag design crew?

Would this be accecpted by you(AGD)? I mean, we could dream up some nice schemes and ideas. Then we can tone it down to apply to real e-mags in the future.

    Good idea or not?

I'm thinking this is one of those "Don't call us, we'll call you." type situations.

I'm just asking if we would get in trouble for starting to dream up e-mag stuff, then making it. I personally think it's one of those too but I just want to do silly stuff like draw fantasy emags all day for a reason...

I'm not quite following you, but short of machining guns from scratch and copying AGD guns... you can pretty much do whatever you want. After the contest, if people want to post stuff, there's nothing stopping them. I don't see a problem.

Or you could form a relation like proteam - design the bodies and buy the innards from AGD.

Sorry to correct you Miscue, but I'm sure you can make anything you want, copying AGD designs as much you want. However, if you do, you can't sell it. That's the way patents work.

If I wanted to make an all Alloy 'Mag valve, (which is under consideration...) I can. I can't give them to my friends and I can't sell them. However, in 17 or so years, when Tom's patent runs out... I might be able to.

Footemps, As for submitting things to AGD for production value... Isn't that what's going on now? Surely AGD is looking at the contest entries and culling ideas from them?

They probably are but I'd rather build one than draw one. I couldn't get what I exactly wanted with what I made...

I don't have the skill, time, brainpower, and creativity. I know people out there have ideas, designs and other things we can pile together

Sure you could copy it, but why? Sorry if I treated this as something assumed. You have little reason to make just one for yourself, it would cost way more than the real thing and would be a huge pain... if you could even accomplish it at all. A reason why someone would decide to make them from scratch would be to sell many of them... probably not very cost effective to make just one or a few... which is what the situation would be if someone were making legitimate duplications.

The only thing I could think of is if you had some kind of improvement or feature in mind that was unavailable... like a clear Retro Valve and you were dying to have it regardless of cost.

Well, that's what I'm getting at Misque. I like this idea because there could be some financial help involved if someone likes the idea...

Another reason would be making it out of alluminium,
which Tom has teased us with a few months ago. I currently have all parts and pieces to make a valve out of delrin and telfon.

Or perhaps using a two-path flow pilot-regulator design instead...

But no, it wouldn't make much sense to make only one for yourself.

After all, the patent laws are there to protect the manufacturer...

Footemps, If you can't draw it, and you can't make it, if you don't have the "skill, time, brainpower, and creativity." Why are you asking? I don't think I understand exactly what the first question was.

Ok, I meant that I didn't have enough skill, time, brainpower, and creativity. Well, I do have the time actually. I'm gonna take metalshop so I'd learn some skills and I have some creativity but I'd like more ideas. The brainpower is needed if I can't figure out how to get the design to work.
