The earliest shockers "Shoeboxes" were known for their blocky look and substantial weight. However, the ROF seemed to balance out those downsides. I've always thought they had a brute appeal to them, but I can find a myriad of other guns I would rather have on any given day.

I am not sure what Shocker this was, but it wasn't the PVI. The PVI used AA batteries which went into a tube down the left side of the gun. The issue was that you had to take the air supply line off the gun to get the batteries out. this was such a strange design.Originally posted by SpecialBlend2786
haha, i remember back in the day when the shocker didn't have an on/off switch. you had to open it up and unplug the battery just to turn the gun off. When the Impulse came out, Smart Parts got....umm... smart and added a switch to the shocker.
People loved the first shokers, but then quickly learned of it's problems. One of the biggest was the 'noids. They would leak all the time. Back in the late 90's any of the SP sponsored teams at major events were given a SP tech to fix each gun as they came off the field.

Do you have any proof of this? I'm sure there are a log ot people, Tom included, who would LOVE to have proof. If you can find it you could he a hero.Originally posted by Spaceman613
The shocker was the first electric paintball gun that was released... The Phantom "revolution" was an electronic semi that was advertised and in prototyping before the shocker.

Won't do you much good, Smart Parts already dealt with CCI on this issue. Talks and injunctions were filed even before Smart Parts ever started dealing with ICD.
Seems the main thing to come out of that was that the "Revolution" was never produced, due to quality reasons from CCI. They felt that they could not get the marker to attain what they had wanted, and the project was consequently shelved. It was a prototype only, and in that only 1 of those markers was ever made, and remains to this day in the sole possesion of CCI.

I don't think that is correct. All someone needs to show is "prior art". It doesn't have to be anything more than drawings. NOTHING needs to be manufactured. That's how I understand it anyway.Originally posted by Brophog

I'm no patent attorney, so I won't comment.
All I know is that CCI was one of the first, if not the first contacted and it was quickly resolved. I also know that the Revolution was nothing like the electro-pneumatic markers of today. It was a sound activated system, rather than using a microswitch, as today's markers do.
Like I said, Smart Parts covered that angle already, and as far as I know that situation was resolved before any of the other lawsuits started. I do believe it would be appreciated that no one start bugging CCI on this issue, as it has been resolved, and since CCI is truly a one man show, Mike doesn't have spare time to start digging into issues that he may not even be able to publically discuss.

Although I'd like to know the results, I promise I won't call Mike.

PVI Shocker

PVI Cyber 9000This is the PVI Shocker (Pneu Ventures Inc.). PVI made the Shocker for Smart Parts back then. This gun is THE first electronic gun to be mass produced and sold for playing. Features the "fang" trigger, and regulator. Serial # 1684.

This is the PVI (PneuVentures Inc.) Cyber 9000!! This is only a prototype, and is rumored that only 5 were built. What makes this gun special, is the fact that it has an LCD display, and was made back in 1997! On board LCD display, shot counter, and even an add-on chronograph, seen at the end of the barrel. Also, this gun uses cocker threads. Because it was a prototype, no barrels were made specially for this gun. Though I was told that a J&J type barrel was going to be the standard.

Well, you cant say anything else than that technology has taken paintball markers several steps forward =).
