    Newb questions about Air Bottles

When I last played paintball compressed air wasn't widely used, and I have never used it. Thus I have questions.

I wanted to know which brand /size air bottle you recommend. Naturally I'm looking for light weight and durability. I've read posts recommending Nitro Duck, but on the AGD website their bottle seems lighter (43 ounces for the 72/4500), and TK (video interview) noted that their flatline system has some type of kewl valve that is easy to turn on and off under pressure. It's expensive, so I want to know if the thing IS that light and worth the money.

Also, what size... what is this whole 68-72/4500 thing? I know it's cubic inches and PSI, but how does CI determine how many shots you'll get? What is PSI's role? It seems the NUMBER of shots should be a factor of the two (PSI X CI), and shot consistency would be more dependant on PSI... but that's just my uneducated guess. What's the most common size, or at what point does a tank become to large to carry around and maneuver with?

And for the SoCal players, are there any problems getting 4500 PSI fills at the Corona / Elsinore fields?

For info, I play mostly woodsball (outlaw fields). I have an RT PRO and my fiance's X-Mag (mine's still on order with AGD).

Thanks in advance for the help...

well i personally prefer the crossfire 68/45
    68cubic inch 4500psi

the cubic inches does effect the number of shots you get since you have more volume. example the 45cu bottle is smaller then a 68cu bottle so you get more air in it

but i am completly happy as with tons of other people with the crossfire tanks. but centerflag makes a good tank also

you will probably just want to stay with a preset tank
there cheaper and IN MY OPINION adjustable tanks are overrated and overpriced. i loved my flatline when i had it but its not worth the extra money to me.

forgot to mention if you can afford the extra few dollars get a 4500psi over the 3000psi even if you cant find a place to fill to it.

a 3000psi's tank resale value is HORRIBLE at best

      just my .02

A general rule of thumb is that you get about 10 shots per cubic inch of tank in a 3000 psi fill, so just multiply by 1.5 if you have a 4500 tank.

How do you play with an RT and X without the Nitro?

Anyway, definitely go with the adjustable tanks, also the higher the output pressure the better. The reactivity of the RT and X is based off the incoming psi level. So if you buy a preset, most likely it will be only around 800-850 psi, that is not enough to get "good" reactivity out of the valve! So go with the adjustable otherwise you won't get good response or will be stuck with however much response the preset will give you.

I personally like 68/4500's the best.

Good luck, in the quest for the new tank.

                  ... ahh, interesting point.

How do you play with an RT and X without the Nitro?
You are perceptive... Basically I needed to upgrade my old 68 automag w/ lvl 5 valve, and it was more cost effective to take advantage of AGD's awesome deal then to purchase the parts separately. I just got the RT a few days ago from AGD. Other than shooting markers at the store, I haven't used compressed air so I really don't know much about the in's and out's of it.

So, things have changed so much since I've played that I'm once again having to learn all about the guns and such.

Thanks all for the help... I have a lot to re-learn

I would not even bother with 3000psi tanks. Almost all fields fill up to 4500psi and I am sure any established field will be able too. The size of the tank (cu) depends on where you play if you play front you should definately go with a 45/45 and back and mid usually shoot 68s/72.

The tanks I prefer are Nitroduck Xstream adjustable ones. I have 2 and I havent had a single problem with either.
