I am with Thordic on this. I been using Mobil Air Tool oil for years without a single issue. Good stuff. And a quart is like 5 bucks. Allmost all airtool oils are Synthetic oil and easy on the o-rings. No gunking up at all. And the air tool oil at Walmart is fine too. Devilbis or something like that.

AGD, where we are so good we can do it with only ONE tube!

Actually a lot of people use transmission fluid in their block, it is better lubricating than motor oil.

cphil or anyone... is there any type of specific air tool oil i should look at? i mean is there a certain viscosity or anything of that nature i should consider when buying this stuff? and same applies with the pure silicon shock oil... ive seen a few numbers so just wondering... like i said this will be used to put 2 drops in my asa and fire a few times before i start the day

          thanks for the help

The pure silicone RC oil can be had in weights from 10 to 90w. For everyday paintball use I'd use the 10-20w.

I like it better than the pnuematic tool oil cause the tool oil is really light weight as it only has to deal with ~100psi in most cases.

Ok, went to Lowes and looked around, they have at least 4 brands of air tool oil, none of em say whether they are petroleum based or not, got confused and didnt buy anything lol. They also had something called air compressor oil....
Any further info would be appreciated.

The air compressor oil is for the crankcase of an air compressor.

I'm liking the shock oil idea. But I just use ATF. All I have is spyders and tippmanns though; they are not picky.

Right, had figured that part out. Did some searching on here and found alot of conflicting info.
Some say tranny fluid is great, others warn against it.
Some say air tool oil is fine, including Tom, others say its no good etc.
Some say petro based oils are bad, some say there is no problem
Just wondering what is true and what is conjecture.

The only hard truth is oiling when required is better than not oiling.

Oil it with something at least.

Just buy some PB gun oil, whatever it costs,it still lasts a LONG time and not a major investment.Chances are if you oil as recommended, you'll never see a difference in oils anyway.

You can buy a big bottle of shocktech gun oil. It also has a nice nozzle that makes it easy to distribute. I don't see why you need so much oil. I have been using the same bottle of pmi oil for 2 years...
