    Darn Ebay

I am a tinkerer with spyders and such, and was bidding on a jt 3.0 with a few things, but it came with a dye invision mask, and I'm in need of a decent mask so I'm all happy I'm gonna get this mask and marker, well after refreshing the page for the last 8 mins of the auction, with 12 secs to go the other bidder outbids me by 1 dollar, and I'm now angry, cause I really needed that marker and mask.

ANyone else ever get angry at ebay, miss out on a really good deal, or something like that?

Happens all the time. The problem is you either didn't wait until the last moment possible and bid snipe the item or you didn't bid the maximum price you were willing to pay. For instance, if I see something on ebay I am interested in I set a maximum limit I would pay for that item. If the price doesn't get that high during the course of the auction then when the end comes around I bid up to my set limit not a couple of dollars over the current bid.

It doesn't always work but when it does I don't feel cheated since I didn't lose or spend more than I wanted to. Another thing is the sniping bit which a lot of people hate but I don't see the point of increasing the cost of something I intend to buy, by bidding on it during the run of the auction.

I am upset that I set the limit I was going to bid, and then the person make about 15-20 bid incriments of 1 dollar till he passed my highest bid, it just ticks me off. I could of really used the stuff too, like the body for a project blowback, and the mask for accually playing, my spectra mask has a bad lense now, and I need a new mask. Grrr this all angers me. Isn't there something where you can set it to bid a maximum of X amount of money with X time left in the auction?

Thats the way it goes. I sniped someone last night as a matter of fact! I hit it with 11 seconds left to go. However he was sniping too. I hit the bid first but he had just already outbid me. I got one more in when it ended. And yet paid about my top dollar I was going to. See the link and check the bidding in that last minute..

By the way this dealer is very honest and I know someone who knows him. And these wheels are German and sell for 60 a peice before shipping. Not rare just expensive and hard to get. Note I got two tires and tubes too. About a 60 value on its own. I was willing to go 170 on the whole thing. I got lucky with my second bid and got em shipped for 160. But I had watched it all week without bidding. Sniping is a method used if its obvious two people are already bidding on it fairly regular. In this case I out sniped a sniper.

Here is some tips on Bid sniping.

First of all if you see two or more people toppin each other a day or two before do not bid. And do no revisit it if its got a counter. Wait unil a couple hours before it ends. Then visit it and see if its below you top dollar. Do your homework on the value.

Secondly when to go to watch the final hour open up two windows into bid on item and one on the item. Do not refresh too many times if the item is still within your set amount. Remember the counter is recording them. And it indicates how many people are watching it. So don't add to it

Thirdly about 20 minutes to end Put your top bid in one window and leave it. Then a second one you will fill in above the current bid.

Fourth step... refresh and chose a figure within current bid and your top dollar.

Now do not go back. Sycronize your clock with the auctions clock. When the clock hits two minutes left count to 10 or so and hit the submit bid on your lower number. It will return and tell you if you were outbid or are high bider. By this time only a minute left. Refresh again if your high bidder. If not then send your top dollar. It will get there within the last 30 seconds.

This all depends on your connection speed. But thats what I do with mine.

In this case you can see I sent two bids in within about a minute. And got it. Note my second bid with 11 seconds left!

Here as that auctions bid history:
