STOLEN GUN! Palmerized Cocker stolen at Paintball Expo, Pomona 2-8-04

    This sucks...

I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Glenn Palmer on Saturday 2-7-04:

I just found out that on the next day, Sunday 2-8-04, someone stole one of his guns. It's a customized cocker that was located right here:

(this pic was taken on Saturday)

this is what the gun looks like:

    FROM: http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/stolen.htm

WARNING: the next pics are huge! (click on the small thumbnail to view detailed photos)

This is the only one with that mill pattern in "Blue Splash" ano. Most of the serial number can be seen in the picture. This one should be easy to pick out in a crowd.

Stolen from the PPS table at Paintball Expo in Pomona, LA, California

If you have info please call

    FAX (916) 923-9674

    or email Sales

    Thanks for your help...

Although it's nice to "handle" the guns while they're on the table, they should connect some wire cable through some sort of ASA bottom line adaptor.

Maybe even put up one of those X-10 cameras?

I feel bad... he was such a nice, enthusiastic guy. For this to happen, I bet it just totally ruined it for him to drive 7 hours down here.

The people who steal these things are probably professional theives... They know there is hundreds of thousands of dollars worth in equip at these tournies.

                Its a shame...

I agree these things should have cable locks

actually, they usually turn out to be little punks, that handle a gun, notice that the table is crowded, and just take advantage of that situation.

Not to say older people don't steal as well, but it's an exceptional temptation for younger players.

I know this might not exactly be the place for this but a few years back at Cup we had a scare at the AGD table. They normaly have them cabled down too. We had some X Mags out for the first time. Well someone came up to the table and said they saw someone with one of our markers. A red to silver fade heading off down the aisle. We looked and indeed it was gone. So they described the guy with a Red hat took it. And almost all of us took off running in different directions looking for the guy. A few mintues later (maybe 15 or so) here comes Curtis (Havoc online) with the gun. Seems he was exactly the guy descibed with the marker. And he had said to someone he was going over to CP booth to match the Silver to a barrel kit. I guess no one paid any attention or realized it when he left with it. And we then heard it was gone and panic ensued. It was rather funny after that. And all the markers got strapped down then.

I think Curtis ended up with that marker and still shoots it to this day. I know he bought the Barrel kit before the end of the event for it.

well, better safe than sorry. Props to the guy who told y'all that, even though it was a false alarm. B/c what if it hadn't been .

But still, in that situation, that's hilarious!

Yea It was an "inside job"

Realy it just made us all aware of how easy it would be for one marker to be gone and none of us notice it. So it did do us some good and even though a false alarm it made us all the more aware.

And of course everyone knows you can't trust Curtis with a Red X mag...

Sorry to hear it. WOuld have thought Palmer would have learned the lesson after Camille.

As for the AGD story, I'd say that a tagging procedure should always be in force at any table where multiple people have access to the keys.

Even if it's only on person, a tagging system will help them keep track during the craziness.

Also, beware about reports from someone of a stolen marker at a show. While all the AGD gang were running around and distracted, everything at the booth could have been ripe for the picking.

Naw were not that stupid. Someone (2 people actually) was left at the booth and all guns removed from table before the hunt was on. We organized which way we were going to go. One of course was sent directly to the Exit first thing.

Didn't want to insinuate you were.

Just wanted to underline that when manning a booth, or even in a retail outlet, one of the weapons of shoplifters is distraction.
