Is the PDS on b2k3 necissary?

    Hi,

I was wondering if the PDS on b2k3's are necissary. Being a mag owner I have never delt with any kind of "eye." So I was wondering if these things really help. Like if I were to go under 18 with it would i be fine w/o the PDS? THANKS A LOT

Necessary? That's up to you I guess, but it will chop with out it.I can't stand chopping.

You could have the SP mod done which functions kinda of similar to the L10 principle.

I don't think I'd ever get on a field without a anti chop device of some kind.

    Spoiled I guess.

I don't think the SP mod is being offered currently. And at any rate, the PDS system is superior. The stock board isn't adjustable for ROF, so if you don't have PDS, it will probably blend paint. The PDS works decently with the stock board, and is absolutely phenomenal with a Chaos board.

A 2k3 PDS bushy with a chaos board will be as fast and chop-free as anything can be currently... I think both are very good choices.

I believe the SP mod is still available and now factory approved.

We are now excepting customer rams again for the SP Mod.
Just curious why the board should have any effect on the SP mod?

But who knows,I'd rather have PDS anyway.

I dont understand why it would chop....and ya btw im talkign about a choas board b2k3 so 20 bps. Who can go faster than that? (BTW I have a Halo B so i wont outshoot that either) I know I cant therefore I really dont see how it will chop...does the PDS do something I dont know about? I know its obviously nice but for the extra $150 or so is it worth it. THANKS for the replies so far keep em comming

Capable of chopping and actually chopping are different things.

As with the L10,I like to know it's not capable.I use a Halo and sometimes a Z boarded Egg but sometimes, things happen.

That's why I said whether the security is worth it to you, only you can decide.PDS or the SP will enhance resale as well if that matters also.

when i first got my 2k3 w/pds, i forgot to turn the eye on. it chopped. now that im used to it, i've been through about 6 cases with only one or two chops using a halo. i'm not counting the crappy tc paint we got stuck with at the cup though.....i am deleting that experience from my memory.
those were'nt really chops anyway, more like ball explosions.

i reccomend the pds, better to spend the money at purchase than to wish you had and end up with marker down time for shipping and upgrades etc.

between my mag and bushy, i have almost forgotten what it's like to break a ball.

              Florida peeps...step up!!

The SP mod wasn't/isn't perfect. It's a dual purpose design meant to lower solenoid pressure, but it could still chop occasionally. SP supposedly is coming out with the "MAC" ram, but it's not released yet (iirc). I also was under the impression that the SP mod for the B2k wasn't available anymore pending the release of the MAC ram. You might still be able to get it for the BKO though... they seemed to take the SP mod better than bushy's anyway.

The only reason I mentioned the stock board is because if you're counting on a stock 2k3 PDS not chopping, you'd better not shoot too fast. The stock board logic isn't tremendous... but it is fast. The chaos board has excellent eye logic, and it is retardedly fast.

As for comparison with the lvl10, my LX would still chop when I used brittle paint. Not a lot, but it would a little. And that was tuned as soft as I could get it, and using a halo. Best I recall, I had a lot of trouble getting the velocity over 290 before venting the way I had it set (made the trigger real easy to go reactive too ). It was set that close to just not working. Brittle paint, and it'd still chop. Nothing is perfect. I've heard a lot of people have never chopped with theirs, and I didn't chop much with mine. But it's still possible.

The reason I like PDS better is that it's a faster system, and for me, I've not seen a bulletproof lvl10 yet. I haven't seen bulletproof eye systems either, but they have worked better for me. This is coming from someone who owned two 2k3 PDS's (two chaos boards and a stock one) and a MM2k RT with l10 last year. YMMV.
