    Tippmann Appraisal

    Well,
I just got this gun, It is a Tippmann model 98. It is annodized blue, and has all of it's original parts. The gills have been milled. But here's the weird part. It's one solid piece of metal. The trigger gaurd is built in. It gets weirder, the serial number is 963! I think this was one of the first run of Model 98's.

    What do you guys think?
    worth anything?

About as much as any used 98Custom. Probably a little less actually since RT and E-bolt installations would have to be an in-factory modification. Since the Model 98's don't have the room or milled inner area to fit those pieces, people wanting this to then install that won't be happy.

Might be a "low" serial number, but it's not like these were rare items.

98 Customs don't have gills, Model 98s have gills.

            AGD Did someone call me?

You should go to each gun manufacturers forum or call them up. Ask the OWNER of the company why his gun is better. When you get your answers come back here and tell us what they said.

You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care.

              eh sean,
              I didn't say it was a custom

man this is such a low serial number. Considering there have been 10s or 1000s made, it's got to be "rare", in a newb way.

well, time for some EBAY fun...

Eh, you can try to pull that over on the newb, but even that's a major "good luck pal" situation.

That and make sure you write that it's PAINTED blue! Not anodized. Only a short run of 98's were ever anodized by Tippmann, and they were all charcoal or black colored. You can't anodize a Tippmann 98 or A-5 body a solid color. The metal is cast aluminum poured into molds, not precision cut. If it were anodized it would look all blotchy like a smurf sneezed on it.

well on the model98's all of their trigger guards are built in, they put a removable one in the 98c
they all have the app rubber grips, my 98c came with them
serial number isnt going to mean much unless its a number like 1
it was common for people to mill out the gill back then its like the equvalent to drilling holes in the feed neck
and its most likely not annodized and they probably just used paint and a clear coat
and no its nothing special, not worth any extra money

It sounds like the ones that 32 Degrees took and midified years ago. Can you get a picture of it? From what you've said, I'm almost positive it's one of those older 32 degrees M98's.

                        Aha!

                        As I thought, I just checked my M98, it's serial 0637...
It certainly wasn't rare when I got it new, and it still
doesn't feel very rare Maybe if you had serial #1 or 2.

Tanner, look at the internal portion of the body. How does it look? Solid hard blue as well everywhere?
