AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Assault in Hockey game, reprecussons for paintball?
Overshooting should have serious consequences, including legal/litigation if the situation dictates. Players enter the paintball field having agreed to the rules that 'one shot equals an elimination, and there shall be no overshooting.' I don't enter the field expecting to be lit up 15+ times because some douchebag feels the need to prove how far he can pee.
I know that, certainly, in the event of moderate to serious overshooting, the player should be expelled from the tournament. This is a game of honor - let's try to keep it that way. Overshooting is COMPLETELY controllable, and should be treated as such.
I agree that hockey is definately a physical sport, and some sort of agreement takes place with fighting. Bashing this guy like so..no..thats just wrong. People get excited when hockey fights happen, its just a fun thing to watch, but when people start to fight dirty and not do it in hopes of pumping the team or to get some anger out, and instead do things such as revenge and cheap shots, thats when its assault.
As for paintball, I feel overshooting has a few different aspects. NO, we dont need full headgear or whatever, that would just be ridiculous in my opinion, I wouldn't wear it, im sure tons of others wouldn't. You need to realize that stepping on the field nowadays means lots of streams flying. In tournaments, such as NPPL, your playing teams equal and higher to you, and no matter who it is they are all shooting fast. I think I can even take 10-15 balls (you realize a lot of them dont break) from across field or a few bunkers away, im ok with that, no problem. When you can obviously see it as assault, I dont shoot back, I dont freak out, I say something to them after the game or whatnot, its unneeded to show that your going down to that level. Combating cheaters with bonus balling just makes angry cheaters, set an example by not cheating incredibly and by not bonus balling. Once you yell and scream and overshoot at people its assault, why should you use the "toy" you play with to hurt somebody, it makes no sense whatosever. The best kind of resistance to angry people, or people that feel they need to be in power by shooting you walking off the field, or by ripping you over and over by bunkering, are the kind of people that get mad when you are laughing or even being nice to them after the game, set an example by showing that were all out here to have fun and possibly win some tournaments, legit.
Originally posted by Branchvillian The way I see it, when 2 hockey players throw off there gloves, that is an aggreement to fight. Fighting is acceptable in hockey, but not when the other person isn't willing. That's the way I see it.
do it in a hockey rink/other sporting arena, its ok.
