Size of the fields at Skyball

Anybody know for certain the size of the fields at Skyball? How many did they have? (5 I think.)

Also, seems to me the open top arangement at Skyball wasn't really all that safe for spectators.

I was considering an inflatable structure that would fully enclose a playing field in netting.

To fit anywhere a highschool regulation basket ball court size would probably be the maximum. But, i guess the 84' x 50' might even be small for a 3-man game. But using the sq.ft. per player from PSP it would be close to PSP standards. A 3-man field using scaled down 10-man should be 60' x 39'. A 3-man field using scaled down 5-man should be 90' x 72'.

Though the basketball court size would be cool because then any school could have a paintball club practice indoors in the gymnasium.

    PSP 5-man is supposed to be 150' x 120'
    Millenium 5-man would be 164' x 98' (maximum, they don't give a minimum.)

Anyone have an 'ideal' size for 5-man?

there is already a company that tried the all inflatable field with netting incorporated.

are you smoking crack? the day a school lets kids bring guns to school then shoot paint all around the gym is the same day they let the trenchcoat mafia run for student council.

Really? Do you know who? I've been looking but found nothing.

All the indoor fields and tournaments all rely on scafolding, fencing, or hanging netting from the ceiling.

Well, a number of colleges already have paintball clubs.

i dont remember who did it...i do remember that each field was numerous tens of thousands of dollars so i think it died before they ever even tried to launch it.

colleges yes...but high schools, hell no. and never in the gym.

The only "inflateable paintball fields" I've found are just the sports dome type inflatable shelters.

I did find an interesting site with a "Paintless Paintball Shooting Gallery".

Also the inflateable batting cage could probably be scaled-up. To paint ball field sizes.

            Figures, now I find something.
            "Paintless Paintball Arena" 50' x 35' x 11'

            But that's too small....

yeh, i wouldn't worry too much about fitting it in a gym...you wont see many people who own a gym let you set up a field there....from a school's view...1) guns are bad 2) guns are bad 3) tons of crap to clean up (would you put astroturf down) 4) huge set up 5) oh, did i mention guns are bad?

                Alright, forget the gym bit.

I'm looking for a good size that could be used at events like skyball for quick set-up and take down.

But, gym wouldn't get messy. Lay down some field turf, vacuum before packing up. Wash the turf outside. (But the stuff is porous enough you can just rinse it through when rolled-up in a box.

I understand what you mean as there were balls coming over the netting towards the end of the field, but this was due more to do with the marbles they sold as paint bouncing off of the barricades, also those bleachers opposite the end of field 1 were all turned down so no-one could sit in them. You will always get some balls flying over at the ends of fields. The biggest annoyance to me was walking around the dome and seeing places where people had fired paintballs in some stupid tagging contest....around the far side of the trade show (I walked that way to get to the players party), parking lot, outside the restrooms and up the ramped entrance. Fools every single person who did that! Roadway signs are bad enough but within a prestige venue in areas that loaded paintball markers shouldn't even have been unplugged

It's the same as the other one I linked to. And the other one looks far more solid.

                            And it's TINY!
