    Filling my own tanks?

Hey guys I am contimplating on buying a used scuba tank so I can fill my own HPA tank. I was thinking about getting a 80cf. 3000psi. tank but I am not sure how many fills I will get from it if I am filling my 88ci. 3000psil. tank anyone know? I also have some other questions: Will I need to know anything before filling my tank? Any training? Will I need any kind of certification? Thanks I will ask more questions as they come to me but that is all so far.

if you buy the scuba tank, you will be able to fill yoru N2 tank with an adapter sold at most paintball stores. Just note, though, that the first fill will be a full 3000psi fill, but the rest will all drop off some each time, around 1-200psi per fill, as the air in the tank has less and less pressure.

    just FYI

you shouldn't need certification, but get someone who knows what they're doing (field owner/manager/tech NOT ref) to show you how to operate it and do all that stuff

I used to be soooo scared of filling tanks, thought they were gonna blow off and kill me. But once someone shows you, it's actually really easy, as long as all your gauges are working.

Oh yeah, and as a general rule, always go by the gauge on the scuba tank, not the gun (correct me if I'm wrong though, it may be the other way around )

If you have a 3000 lb scuba tank, there is no way (without a booster) that you could fill a PB tank more than 3000 lbs.
So long as the Scuba tank is filled properly (to 3000 #), you won't have to worry about guages at all, the PB tank and Sacuba tank will equilize in pressure, which will always be lower than the scuba tank's intial 3000 lbs.

ya i have a tank and the first person (Me )Get 3000 psi out of it. It is NOT hard to do at all, but you have to get the fill station. They run like $35-$45 something like that. Go to plaintballgear.com they will have them.

I'm thinking about getting a tank and fill station for my house so I don't have to drive to the store every time I want to fill my tank. Plus I can take it to my uncles field when we play there so we dont have to drive to the store mid day to get our tanks filled. Only problem, there isn't many scuba shops in illinios

its not that hard, but becareful. id suggest seeing if theres a class running on how to fill paintball tanks, ive seen some going on for field owners. if youve ever seen a scuba tank fly, its really, really not pretty.

Also, dont point the gauge directly into your face, sometimes, for no reason, it can shatter. (ie. pmi gauge cutting neck = extreme owwwwww) freaking pmi and their desire for price, not quality.

In reference to looking at the scuba guage and not pb guage, that really only applies if you're using more than one scuba tank to fill (like the field I ref at does), otherwise, yes, it equalizes.

Some dive shops require you to have a diving C-Card before they fill your tank. My shop just asks you to sign a waiver. You may want to buy a PST E-Series tank @ 3442 psi with a Yoke connection, as I said before.

Here are a couple of links on safety and how to fill tanks. They are good reads.
