    Mags in tourney's??

Does anyone use or see many mags in tournaments these days?
I remember when they won the world cup but due to the electronic markers the mags fell back (so to speak).
I assume with the new X-valve they are able to keep up with the some electonic markers, or is the RT portion of the x-valve going to be considered illegal for touney play this year? I am looking to buy a mag but not sure if I should sell my mech 2K3 cocker and get a mag actaully a ULE, with X-valve straight from AGD.
    Thanks for any input.

    Yes they are tourney legal

    Hey Rads,

My team plays with Custom ULE RT Pros. As long as they don't bounce they are legal. With the ULT (after it breaks in) they will not bounce. We keep up with all those electros just fine.

    Hope this helps.

        Clearification

        Hey Rads,

When I say we keep up with all those electros just fine. I don't want you to think I mean we can reach the same kinds of ROF as a timmy or angel or other suped up electro. But, it does good enough to keep us in the game against anyone and does not cost $1500.00. Your still going to have to play better then the other guy.

I will say that I believe it is the fastest shooting mech marker in the world. And, I can outshoot some electros.

Thanks for the added input. TBH I was on the same page with you, didnt think a mech could shoot as fast as a electro. A Local guy has one and all you ahve to do is pull the trigger a few times and then hold you finger really still and the gun just takes off almost like it kicks into a turbo mode, which I am assuming is the bounce affect.

yes, that's bounce effect. Check out Nicad's new marker though... mech marker that can keep up with electros.

i am gonna be using my ule emag in tourny's.
and my rt pro that i had shot just fine i would not say its the fastest mech marker.
it probably is the fastest, capability wise though.
i personally think a cocker is only because its easier to shoot the cocker faster.

all what you get used to

                Hey,

It's really all what you get used to. I can flat out rip on my RT Pro with ULT. DON't know how many BPS but it's fast. Besides, I don't like to talk BPS because, as everyone knows, 99.99999% of the time when ballers talk about BPS, the "P" is silent.

People used to cockers may be able to shoot them faster. I know this, my friends with cockers love my mag now that it has the ULT.

BTW, if you get the ULT and adjust it properly and put about a case through it to let it break in, it will not bounce. Mine bounced like crazy when I first got it. It was fun but not legal.

                  rads,

be carefull!! There have been issues with RT based mags in tourneys in the past. If you are worried about bounce at all, I WOULD NOT get a mag of any flavor!! (other than a classic, or a RT pro modified with a classic on/off assy).

The Current RT effect CAN, but not guarentee a marker DQ. (this is all based on the ref that is testing the marker)

The RT effect is touted as a "benifit", It has caused us and other teams problems in the past, and AGD will not support you if get a marker banned. SOOOOOOO

Proceed with caution and a warning...

We stopped using AGD products in large events for this exact same reason.

PS, I might have a emag to trade for your cocker.. PM me if interested.

There is no way a ULT'd RTP is going to be illegal. You can adjust it with the shims so that isn't close to bounce. I have read about your problems lamby, but that was with an E-mag in hybrid. I have an RTP with ULT, and I probably could get it to bounce, but getting rid of that is just a guestion of removing shims.

This sums up what I said.

It is up to you to determain what you want to use at events. I dont care. I just think if you wnat to run a mag, bring a functional backup because you will prob need it.

                          Bounce

                          RADS,

The link that Lamby posted does give an example of an RT being DQd by a ref. However, if you read further, that same thread says that based on that Refs flawed testing, most markers could be DQd. He was just out to get people with Mags.

Furthermore, the NPPL has clearified to it's refs the intent of the rule about bounce is to prevent a player from gaining an UNFAIR advantage with ROF. Being able to get 2 shots over 5 seconds is not an unfair advantage. As a matter of fact, if you tried to use that "bounce" it would handicap the player. Therefore his marker was not illegal. He should have appealed that ruling to the Ultimate Ref.

There is no way that ref could DQ my RT Pro because you CAN NOT make it bounce. I don't care how slow you pull the trigger. Once the ULT is properly tuned and broken in, it should not bounce. When its new it will bounce like crazy. Just gas it up and let it bounce away for about 2000 shots and it will break in and work like a charm. BTW, i've tinkered with 3 RT Pros all with ULTs so this is not just based on one experience.

                          Hope this helps,

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I guess I just want to make sure that I can get a mag that would hang with the electros the best it can. As tonybhall mentioned I am aware of the you need to be better than the other guy as well, but just kills me seeing how much I loved mags and I didnt get one, and now with the ULE and x-valve teh gun seems to be back in the upper end of markers like they were back in the mid/early 90's, when they first came out.

Well, I've only gotten to play once with my RTP on a walkon. I felt like I could play just fine with it against the angels, matrices and shockers that were there. Sure, I couldn't get the same max firerate, but most of the time it competes with them just fine. And with the rogue and logic electro frames, and the hAir trigger coming out, when you have the money you can upgrade to a very competitive marker.
