    Guys,

It's not about user error or stupidity. It's about the person who last worked on/installed the valve. It was not installed properly. If the valve was loc-tited it wouldn't have happened.

      What you dont know

McGuire said they have been aware of a "twist-off possibility" for some time
Ya like since the early 90s when it actually happened. So why didnt they eliminate the possibility when they knew about it??????????????

The government could also call for voluntary or mandatory regulations for all manufacturers.
Voluntary as in A.S.T.M. Safety Standards, that arent being followed. So we need Big Brother to step in and make them mandatory. Any body ever see a label on ANY Markers or Gogs that says meets or exceeds all A.S.T.M. Safety Standards?
Do you want your goggles tested with 8 shots when the ROF today is in the 20s. The gog standards need an upgrade.

Do you have any idea how imposible a ROF death is?

ROF WILL NOT AND CAN NOT kill a person.

      It simply wont happen.

I cant prove it YET but I believe otherwise.
Didnt lasoya give that guy a concussion from over shooting him. Know what a concussion can do?
Think if the E.P.D.[eye protection device] fails, which includes the mask part and you take a couple good shots to the temple. What about a dozen shots or so to the back of the head and base of the neck. Know what causes those nasty welts when you get shot close, broken blood vessels and blunt trauma. Can you say aneurism Now think blunt head trauma, but you wont find any info on this relating to headshots from paintballs cause NOBODY CARES to do any testing. Full head protection with chin straps is already on the way. Wait till little Johnny with his high tec tourny gun with bounce goes run away and cant control it.

The SAFETY list goes on, but the biggest one is the uneducated uninformed PLAYER

Bob McGuire, president of the Tennessee-based American Paintball League, said he hoped the new warnings would encourage people to become better educated
Bob McGuire also of the American Paintball Insurance co.

      edit for sp and add

Know what the C.P.S.C. did to Lawn Darts[jarts] back in 88 and why??
Paintball is one away from hitting the fan. Stay tuned to to the C.P.S.C for a warning on markers next

There's no point in flaming all of this. It is very straight forward. They're not taking anything away from us, they're just requesting that we be more observant.

with the tank unscrewing, its not about stupidity(well...sorta), the person who last worked on the valve didn't do it right. I install anti-siphon tubes on tanks all the time, and I bet u cant get the valve off w/o special tools....... People need to use loc-tite, and tighten the valves down. I'll bet the two tanks that went off, someone installed anti-siphon tubes, and didn't know what they were doing.

              three words..

              Proper torque specifications

This would have fixed this with or without lock tite

There is a DOT torque spec that was not adheared to and someone died becasue of it. HP air has the power to kill more than only one person. I have seen video of what HP air can do... It is not pretty at all.

Like all power tools. RESPECT IT, or it might be the last negligent thing you do.

That is also correct, I work in a SCUBA shop and do Visual Inspections and send takes for Hydro all the time.

You would have to be shot point blank in the throght like 40times in the EXACT same spot. It simply wont happen.
its that kind of thinking that got peopled killed with tanks unscrewing from the valve. dont assume that because it hasnt happened and that it seems extremely unlikely that it ever would that it wont happen.

No, the real reason is that it was loctited on. The loctit filled the internal release hole preventing the tank from venting when the valve first began to unscrew. Paintball tank valves do not require loctite, just the proper torque from a wrench.

Agreed, and one of the things lockwire provides is instant visual verification that the item is tightened.
