Logging in and visiting any forum page generates a request to a database. Not visiting any specific page still generates a thread of request, since each users' user preferences needs to be loaded, and the user list needs to be modified for everyone.

650+ simultaneous SQL connections most definately WILL hose a server! All it takes is a few hundred people hitting their browser's refresh button. I'll defer to the MySQL query in my sig for how far I think this will get.

As of right now both threads pertaining to this have almost 1400 views combined. Lets pretned that each person only viewed one of the threads one time. And lets also pretend every single viewer will partcipate. That means we would still be about 200 short of PBN.

Now in reality, ive checked these threads probably 6 or 7 times total. I bet there are others who have done this multiple times too. So we need more people to hear about it, and participate, if we are even going to break our own record.

Its only Monday though, theres still plenty of time.

Also I had another thought, theres a part where it says how many guests are logged in. If I have a window open for my account, and a window open with my account logged out, does that count as 2 seperate users browsing? If so, our numbers could be doubled....THEN MAYBE we could take PBN's record.
