    Trasporting Paintball Markers on Airlines

Tomorrow I'm heading home for the holidays and was wondering if I'm going to get a lot of greif at the airport trying to bring my marker with me.

If I put it in my checked baggage, will it be an issue? Anyone have any experences, good or bad? Thanks!

you better not try to take it as a carryon. i would recommened shipping it to yourself. i don't know how they feel about baggage but my understanding is you are safest if you ship it.

                  Carry on.. bad idea. Duh.
Taking paintballs as carry on is ok, as long as they are sealed up good. (That'd be a mess.. goto open the cabinent above your seat and spill all your paint ont othe floor).
Guns should be storeed in a hard-sided locked case. Take the barrel off, and any otehr detachable items, for htey will open it up and xray it.. and the more it looks like a gun the better.
All tanks should be De-gassed and must be inspected proior to boarding.
Remebr they haev the right to detain you for any reason at any time, so don't be a idiot and walk around in circles at the terminal for an hour looking nervous holing a black locked case... not cool.
And, for the sake of other passengers, I wouldn't talk about having the marker, or as most of us call them paintguns or just `gun, in the terminal.

"Hey John I got the gun!"
                  (SWAT team take you down,...)

And.. if I were you, I wouldn't talk about anything to do with shooting on the plane... even if it comes up about where your going. Try not to use key words like that.. the officials might know that you are talking about paintball, but the passengers don't, and that could scare people... you just dont want that.

Shipping to yourself is a good idea, but.. things get.. ahem.. *lost*.
If your flying out on say Friday, and ship it Thursday, and play in the Tourney on Saturday.. theres a chance it might not get there.. you don't wanna get stuck with a rental.

not that I'm saying checking it into cargo at the airport is hte safest, but it will get the marker there on time and with you. Unless it turns out to be a "Meet The Parents" moment and they lose it.. but then you can like .. sue.

If you get arrested, ... its not my fualt.

I prolly just said alot of the stuff in that link.

Oh.. but one thing.. You shouldn't haev to "Declare" anything, becuase the gun isn't a real firearm. Yet I wouldn't fly to, say, a country like China with it in cargo. That just seems liek a bad idea. you could, singlehandedly, start WWIII.
                    Lol.
