Exporting a Mag to Canada from the US

Does anyone know the harmonization (customs export classification) code for an AutoMag?

    Thanks!

    Scott =)

umm... you can just send it, the harmonization code is for brokers. You can send with regular service like USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc, at least thats how most peeps have sent stuff to me. Hope it helps.

Yup, sending it USPS works the best for Canadians. And the Customs people and brokers will figure out the rest, and bill the receiver (in this case, the Canadian) whatever brokerage fees, duty, and applicable taxes.

YIKES!!! UPS has the highest brokerage fees of any of the delivery companies. I'd avoid them like the plague. The best thing you can do for the reciever is send it as a gift to try to avoid paying duty. I'd suggest contacting different companies to find out how much they'll burn the receiver for brokerage fees.

My bad, I meant USPS. I will edit my post. USPS charges a flat rate of $5 for brokerage for whatever.

Boy paying the duty fees sucks large.
I've was burned unexpectedly the first time I got some radio control trucks, from the US.
The duty has actually killed a few deals on me.
It's a pain when your going to trade and then you've got to drop $150 on extra fees.

i've never paid more then $50 in duty fees.. I get all my stuff shipped USPS as a gift.. I've had a ULE Custom, a hyperframe, an e-cocker and none have been more than $50 in duty.

                      There is no "duty".

The only charges are GST or HST taxes and brokerage fees. The brokerage fees depend on the company doing the delivery. If you use UPS then you had better be ready to give up a body part. LOL. USPS usually only charges $5.00 brokerage plus taxes on declared value. Sometimes, on privately shipped items they come through without any charge at all (not even taxes). USPS usually gets here quicker too, for some reason. Some of the other carriers (not UPS) will allow you to declare the item at customs yourself. They will then only charge a small nominal brokerage fee.

Basically, just stay away from UPS if shipping to Canada.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

                            My Tips?

make sure it's marked as SPORTING GOODS

if you can and it's used - have it marked as a RETURNED REPAIR
that way they can still insure it for it's value

And if it's new - MADE IN THE USA (not duty on product made in the USA)
