Hello AO'ers! I thought this would be the best place to introduce myself. I hope this is the right topic to do so. My name is Robert but everyone knows me under my screen name as Zap. I tried to get that name here, but it seems someone else already has it even tho I've never seen them post. Maybe a moderator might be willing to delete that account so I can get the name for myself. He only has 3 posts from 2002! I couldn't post here for the longest time because I had cookies blocked from this website. Cookies and popups are a peeve of mine so every cookie must be confirmed manually. I must have blocked them here by mistake. I made my account a few months ago and I just finally figured out the cookie problem the other day and got it fixed. Now I can post!!!
I was a Spyder guy for quite some time and I try to play at least once every couple months or so when I can afford it. It is pretty expensive to play because I have a 15 year old son that always goes with me, so I have to pay for two players every time. I have a couple highly modified Spyders that probably shoot better than any other Spyder out there. After learning everything I could about them and experimenting with every upgrade available, including some of my own mods, I decided it was time to move on to something different.
About 6 months ago I picked up my first Mag off ebay for $150. It was an older 68Automag with purple aluminum and a stainless Dye barrel. Here is the picture that was listed on ebay. It looked OK in the pic, but when I got it, it was a different story.

It had pitted aluminum from corrosion and tons of dried paint in every nook and cranny. The previous owner obviously did not take any care of it and it was a basket case to say the least (I hope he's not reading this)(I hope he IS reading this! Army). The body was painted black but I stripped it back to the original stainless finish and got rid of the sight rail. I'm a fairly capable airsmith and an accomplished mechanic by trade. After much cleaning, a rebuild kit, and a good tune up, I had a decent piece of equipment. I have my own chrono and after all that work getting everything working perfect, it fired at 240 on the first shot after trying it with paint. I was amazed at how nice, smooth, and consistent these things shoot! I dialed it in to 280, the local field limit, and made plans to get out and use my new toy. I finally got a chance to play with it a couple weeks later and I was hooked!!! Aside from chopping crappy paint in rainy weather, it shot like a dream! Even with the rain, mud, and chops, I only got shot out once all day. I took everyone one out that I faced except one guy. He was reloading so I charged him. He filled faster than I expected and got me (in the jewels, ouch!) just before I gogged him on the run. I learned everything I could about Mags from this website and learned that level 10 was the best thing out since cavemen used fire! I decided to build the best Mag possible with what little cash I had.
I parted out that marker on ebay and started saving. After selling most of my old Spyder parts I finally had enough to start buying the parts I wanted. Little by little I started collecting parts and today I received the final pieces to complete my ultimate marker. Hello X-valve and ULE body! It took a while to save up but the long wait has paid off! Now I have a pretty badass marker and I'm proud to show what I have come up with. It still needs some final tuning and I'm waiting on my HPA tank to come early next week along with my new Stiffi barrel. Here is my new toy!!!

I'll get some better pics once I get my new barrel and tank. Some parts are new and some are used. All of it was bought off ebay since the best prices seem to be there. It has ULT and I can't wait to try it out! The pic is shown with a J&J Ceramic. I also have a stock cocker barrel and a cheapo Mako barrel. I use a Halo TSA and I just bought a 70/4500 stubby preset.
If anyone is from Sacramento CA, drop me a line and lets hook up! I plan on playing sometime in the next couple weeks. I can't wait to hear that first chuff instead of a chop!!!
I'm also building a custom Cocker out of an AKA Merlin body. I have a small milling machine and I plan on doing some milling on the body myself. I have most of the parts to complete the project but I'm not in a hurry. I'm interested in hooking up with someone who does quality anno for the lowest price. I want dust black, nothing special, and I can do most of the prep myself. One of these days it will be finished and I'll show it off. But I don't think I will like it as much as this Mag
Till next time, it's nice to meet you all and become a proud Mag Owner!

EDIT- Holy Flying Clam Chowder, I didn't realise you were from NorCal until I read Army's post. Like he said, we have a pretty tight group, and we try to play together every month or so. You just missed the last one, it was on Saturday last weekend.
Keep looking in the Meet And Greet forum, there is almost always a thread there planning the next day.
