    Dollars per second?

I went to the store to buy paint the other day, and came to a very interesting conclusion. I bought 1000 after burner paintballs (not really good stuff) for $26, a fair price I thought. Next I got to thinking, wow the hAir trigger can shoot 17 balls per second. Then I came to this conclusion:
    $26.00/1000paintballs=$0.26/paintball
    $0.026/paintball x 17bps=$.442/sec
I guess that doesn't mean all that much, but I was thinking instead of measuring in balls per second from now on we should measure in dollars/second. Just a funny thought...

    Peace,
    J.J.

Edit: ya I messed up the math a lil bit, gimme a break, it's prom weekend...

        $65 a case for marbs.

        3.25 cents per ball.

10 BPS is about as fast as I can shoot on a good day.

        so about $0.32/sec.

        equals about $20/min.

Man, I'm going to play pump more.

Just think if paint was still expensive and not as cheap as it is now. When I started playing it was $.25 per ball.. Say 10 bps (since somebody else used that number). $2.50 a second. Comes out to $150 a minute. If I did my math right. So be happy that paint is CHEAP now.

fuzzy math.... you don't shoot 10+ bps all the time in the game, you shoot 5 second strings at most. so really if you wanted a true dollars/min number you would have to divide the balls you shot by the minutes you played, because you have to take in to consideration that you don't shoot the whole game most of the time.

AMEN to that... even with playing only with my mech guns... I am by far no speed deamon but I still can easily shoot a case in half a day ... Time to save that last pod to fill the SL-68's 100 round hopper and play the rest of the day... with 40 to spare... LOL

To make Zap happy ... In a 6 hour day...

So .. $54 for a case of marbs ( $60 for the case minus the $6.00 for the 200 rounds for my Pump)... $10 for all day Air and $5 for half my days field fee... divide by the 3 hours I often shoot a case in if I play at a good average pace... = $0.38 / Minute

For the pump hours... $6.00 for the 200 rounds... $0.50 to fill my 4 oz CO2 ...$5.00 for the second half of field fee... for the 3 hours... = $0.06 / minute

So Air Ball / speedball is 633% more expensive or 6.33 times as expensive as a good slow pump rec ball crawl ...

but it all comes down to weither it is 38 or 6 cents if played with a good group it is all good ...

EDIT: but back when it was just Pump or push button splatmasters ( Yeah I still have mine and it still works good ) ... I did pay $1.00 a ball ... $10 / 10 round tube before... So hey ... one thing faster guns have brought is the need for cheaper paint... That toss's the numbers in the garbage... but what might be worse is if you factor in the cost of all our gear... *cringe* ... *hides his calculator because he doesn't want to know....*

NOT FUZZY!!! I empty 25 pods per game!!! I have 5 packs and have them all strapped on every game!!! I carry a scuba tank on a trailer connected to my belt with a long remote so I don't run out of air!!!

For reals tho, I shoot around a half case in a day of play. This thread is not about how much paint you shoot in a day. It's about how much it costs "while" shooting.
