Wingless Tac Rail - What are the Stainless inserts for?

Anyone know why the new rail (Wingless Tac Rail) has stainless inserts?

It can be found here: http://store.airgun.com/index.cfm?fu...&categoryID=16

Are those shipping with new Tac Ones?

Man, it'd be nice if they were ULED out already but I guess you can't get everything you want...

I'm thinking that stainless steel insert is to cover up the holes where your sight rail used to screw into. I think it's more of a band aid to fix the holes. Also, since they are stainless they won't take annodizing...

Stock Emag rail/Similar to RTP rail

See where the inserts are the same place that the 3 holes for the sight rail are?

Yea, the inserts are probably there to cover up the site rail holes b/c they took existing Emag rails and milled them into TAC rails. Rather than having make entirely new rails.

*Edit*They look nice, I would like to see one on a complete ULE/TAC mag. If I hadnt arldy bought an Alpha rail I would probably buy one.

Don't know if these are on backorder but the Tac-Ones...

Sure as hell are....I ordered one a month ago. No ship notice yet.
JoAnn tells me it will probably ship "tomorrow". That was a week or so ago.
Man, I am an Automag rookie and I am having a hard time waiting patiently.
I guess this is a common issue. I ain't complaining ....just whining. :o

              Update: Tac-One Shipped today!!

Yes the Tac rails are reworked Emag rails. We also added a dovetail at the front bottom to underbarrel mount a flashlight. The Tacs are just now going into production now that we have the rails. We have a limited amount of bodies since the machine that makes them in being rebuilt at our machine shop.

We are in the final phases or or company wide revamp. We now only produce three products, the Tac, RTpro and the Warp (besides the remaining Emags). We expect that in about 8 weeks we will have sufficient inventory to cover these three products and have them available on a regular and ongoing basis.

I sincerely hope that the days of long backorders will be behind us in the coming weeks. I appreciate you all sticking with us during this transition.

Intertesting...so does this mean you are doing more of the machining in house?
