Emag vs. Timmie my Experunce!

Hello All
I'm really not sure why tha hell I'm writing this other than its friday nite & maybe I can save some poor fool a little heartache & dough.

As your typical Gun whore who has a little bit more money to play around with, I've had the chance to own & "work" with some very nice high-end markers.
My current setup is:
Tequila Fade ALL ULE Emag w/a 12" Dye ultralight, 91ci nitroDuck & Halo Tsa.

I just sold a Maxed out Texas Storm Intimidator w/Was 2.7, SupaFly Bolt & a whole buncha other crap onit. It lost tha battle between tha two & I'll tellya why...

First, I gotta say, Both are very High Quality guns with excellent workmanship & attention to detail. You cant really go wrong with either one.
...so why did tha Timmie lose?
To be honest, both guns each have little traits that bug tha poop outa me- the Mags a Gas Hog & tends to be a little on the Heavy side (compared to tha Timmie).
Tha Timmie is a little more complex & subject to fits (kinda like a Ferrari), messin with the regulators just to get the gun set up at the start of the day was kinda a Pain (& a science) & God forbid you chop one in tha breach & gunk the eyes. You better put a forcefeed hopper on top & only run good quality paint or yer just askin to blender.

On the plus side- Level 10 Kicks bootay, it allows me to get away with runnin crappy paint & works like a charm. This also means you dont NEED a forcefeed hopper (hence the Tsa), though a halo B or Egg II will make the gun a little faster by its very nature. The Emag is simpler to set up, run & clean and it'll take more abuse than the Timmie. It really is a Tank.

The Timmie had the sweetest, kickinist Trigger EVER. I was able to walk & fan fast without even trying. If you really wanted the gun to blaze- Debounce 1 and Yer oFF!!! It cycled much smoother than the mag which made it a Little more accurate & easy to control, but just by a hair. This gun really is the Ferrari of Paintball Markers- you keep it tuned up, feed it with a Turbo Charger & only put High Octane through it & when she's runnin right she'll take your breath away.

...And for all you Wonks just dyin to know which one is faster...

...Depends on the person behind the wheel. Tha Timmie NEEDS to go Fast, Tha Emag WANTS to go Fast- they both RIP. In fact, I was just out in my backyard blasting roaches from 60 feet with tha Emag after not having used it for awhile (I used tha Timmie right up 'till I sold it) and was surprised at how fast she was cycling. I had gotten so used to the Timmie Bounce I forgot just how Sick tha "Emag Rock" was. Sickin Fast!
Take it or leave it-
I'll stick with tha Mag.

I would say the Timmy is not so much a Ferrari, but more a '72 V8 Vega.
It will scream, but destroy itself in the process.

Thats what I love about the current gen mags.

They dont need TLC to perform.

Both guns have thier advantages but there is nothing I like more than taking my mag out of the box loading it up and be out on the field blazing 5 minutes later. ZERO problems ZERO fiddling.

They eat any paint and won't compain relies on no electronics to band aid chopping problems and will last you forever.

It isnt fancy and it is a bit weighty but Its the only gun that I can truely trust to work ALL THE TIME!

Well written, thx. I have no interest in investing big bucks anyway but is good to know because I might win a contest some time (hint, hint) and get a nice Mag for free.

I agree with the trigger statement, I LOOOVE intimidator triggers. With Mags it feels more like I'm just pushing a piece of metal into what is responsible for firing the gun.

I think that is the take home message. If you need a gun that works 99.9% of the time a mag fits that bill. It still amazes me the number of folks that would rather look AGG in the staging area rather than playing.....

yeah, really my mag hasnt broken yet, i got it as a used field gun a yar ago and only oiled it 5 times maybe (i was playing every weekend for about 5 months) and it was always working. ill admit it has some shoot down but it always always works *i love mags*

You mean shootdown when you get low on air, right??? 'Cause otherwise mags generally have shoot UP.

about the maintainance on a timmy: its not bad at all. setting the regs takes all of a minute at the chrono. To maintain them, all you have to do is grease the regs once a month or so, and grease the ram every other time you play. Its more than what youd do to a mag, but the performance i get out of my timmy is really matched by only a few guns. I think that the only thing that matches it are high end matrices.

About the hoppers: you said you have to run a force fed hopped on timmys: not true at all. if theres any gun on which a revvy is a great choice its a timmy. A revvy will give you the lightest gun setup imaginable, and the eyes really do very well keeping you from not chopping.

Maintenance with a timmy wasn't that bad. However when a problem came up with it, I took me a while to figure it out and I agree that once you chop, it all goes down to hell. They are light, fast, great trigger but in the end I sold mine beacuse I felt it was like Bic pen: in the long run it would become useless, and my mag wouldn't. IMHO Timmys are great, I just wouldn't consider them reliable nor buy one again.

ive always didnt like timmys. They are nice and all with the efficiancy and speed but a emag goes 20 but faster with mech . and timmys are bulky and feel like crap.

I gotta Disagree on this one. when I first got the timmie, I put the Tsa I had been using with my mag on top & it chopped every game I played. Believe me, it wasnt user error- I read/researched every little aspect of that marker before I bought it (did same with mag) I knew it inside & out & the settings were not the prob. It WILL outshoot any gravity feed hopper & eyes are not perfect in preventing chops. The Emag WILL also outshoot any gravity feed hopper BUT Level 10 Bounces off the ball when its not in place- Timmie just eats it.
When I put a Halo B on top- No more Chops! tho the Halo did NOT like cheap paint- stuff that was slightly out of round would clog the raceway & jam it up. Not the Timmie's fault but still guilt by association.
In reference to maintaining tha Timmie- I'm comparing it to the mag, the mag IS easyer to clean & keep up, tho the Timmie is pretty simple also. It just has a few more parts that can malfunction & must be monitored.
These are things that only come out with hard earned experience & I thought I'd pass em on.
I'll eventually get another Timmie- when the prices go down on the Naughty Dogs. They're both excellent guns

I've got to back torbo up on this one acropilot, this weekend my halo crapped its pants and i had to borrow a 12v, my frenzy wasn't even on force mode and not a single chop. But I have to admit there is a certain level of maintenance with timmys that seems to be just compensating for poor engineering on bobs part, but oh well, thats what my ule is for right?
