    AA tank problem!!

I got an AA tank from a guy here on ao. I dont touch the thing untill I put it on the gun today. It looks like its in good condition other than that the on off is impossible to turn by had. I gas the thing up to about 2000 to test it before I fill it all the way. I have to use a wrench to turn the gas on. All of a sudden before its all the way on, it blows the macro line almost in half (the ouput guage wont read as high as the presure is! it goes to 1500 pounds) and I nearly chuck my gun across the room. I tried to adjust the output psi, but it wont change either. I tried puting it in, out and everything in the middle and its exacly the same.
I give it to my shop owner and he looks at it while I play for awile using someone elses tank, he says the seals are all pretty good, so thats not it.(they should be considering that the guy said they were all changed before he sent it to me) Does anyone have any idea what the heck is wrong with it. I know AA has a lifetime warentee on their air tanks, but the thing weighs about 4-5 pounds, so I would rather not ship it.

Sounds like you have an Apocalypse. The on/off knobs on all of those are difficult to turn.

It sounds like your tank is missing the reg. valve pin or the reg. seat. Unscrew the four bolts that hold on the regulator body and look to see if there's a silver pin with a cone shaped base and a long stem in the portion of the reg. still attached to the tank. In the center pocket of the reg. body that you unscrewed, you should see a clear plastic piece. If one of those components is missing, the system is going to go full pressure an not regulate the output regardless of the setting.

send it in to AirAmerica! THey'll probably replace the entire reg, it is worth the 20$ in shipping costs.

I had the same thing happen on my AA raptor, my macroline blew and left a nasty bruise on my hand.
I replaced the regulator pin, spring and valve seat and haven't had an overpressure problem since.

I recently sent a 114 apoc to them via UPS and it only cost about $8 from Iowa. They are in Elk Grove Village, IL so it shouldn't cost much to ship it to them from MO. Best bet is to just send it in, probably be cheaper than buying the parts yourself. And their turnaround is very quick.

But if you want to look into fixing it yourself, go here:Manuals
            Look at the apoc manual.

Since it isn't regulating pressure, it is most likely just the reg seat (seen them go bad even when brand new!).......possibility of it being the piston oring also.
