    Has anyone polished their body?

Anyone here tried to polish their body?? I've got a dremel here, and I'm thinking about polishing up my body. I thought I saw a post somewhere that someone polished his own body. How long did it take? Any special tools?

I'd probably not use a dremel or any kind of powersander. You might get gouges in the metal. I'd use various grades of sandpaper from medium to smooth and finish it up with a some scotchpads and steel wool. Last step would be some car polish and a polishing wheel.

gouges from a dremel? I'm not so sure about that, i've got a nifty polishing fitting made of some sort of cloth stuff and some polishing compound. I've used it to polish phantom internals, and it sure doesn't leave any gouges.

Well, that sounds ok. I just had visions of a drum sander biting into the metal.

Yeah, the thing is it's really small, and I don't know if I want to spend hours with a tiny dremel bit trying to polish up my body. I love working on paintball guns, but there is a limit to that love..

i did mine with sandpaper by hand and it looks great first start with a 100 sand paper ish and just grind the heck outa it. then drop down. keep doing it all going the long way in straight forward motions. NEVER DO CIRCLES OBVIOUSLY then keep downgrading sand paper and go to a emry cloth or sumin to buff it out. then just polish it with stainless steel polish or chrome polish or sumin of the sort. should loook great

Get your hands on some diamond polish and a lathe. I have a mirrored finish on my parts.

DO NOT use the dremel polishing wheel, except for like finishing polish.. the coating on the regular mag body is crazy tough, you need sandpaper to bite into it.. start at about 100, and work your way up in grit, changing after the body stops looking like you can get a better finish with whatever grit you're currently on.. i finished off at 1500 grit, then used some brasso chemical stuff to finish it off, at which point you could use your dremel polishing wheel.

Has anyone tried to polish the visible stainless parts of their retro valve?

Hahaha, anyone else remember when there were about a dozen threads all about sanding and polishing the main body. I can remember coming on AO and seeing 4 different sets of instructions on how to do it correctly......

I polished mine, just wet sanded it with lower to higher grit. Though I kept on getting nit-picky about it and ended up resanding it like 3 times! But it looks good.
