i didnt read everyones posts first so if someone said this thats an oh s*** on my part.

anyways. i think it comes down to the fatc that most people generalise paintball players. generally the tourney ballers are more knowlegable. im not saying this is the case at all im just saying thats how they are generalized. most of the time newbs are rec ballers. im not saying all reccies are newbs im just going with the generalzation. thats why i think we (tourney players) get some what special treatment (ie. byop, non reffed games, schtuff like that)

I hate it when I pay my money to play at a field, only to be told I can't use the airball field because there is "practice" going on. If the practice is so important for the teams, and the field cares so much about it that they keep the rec-players away, can't they just practice before the field opens, afterwards, or on a day when the field is normally closed? I don't like paying for a playing experience that is supposed to include airball, only to be told that I can't use it. Keep practice to the off-hours, and let the paying customers get what they paid for.

I think tourney players should be set aside. Have 2 diffrent classes. So the games are more fast passed and such. If someone whats to join to get better that is also exceptable so I voted yes.

I've seen fields that different groups, such as beginner, intermediate, and advanced, but what I was talking about was a field being set aside for 6-8 team players to run thru drills and such.

Yes, touney players should get certain preferential treatment.

Primarily, whenever possible, the speeball field(s) should be made available for them, for practice or play or whatever. If you're a BYOP field that's great for you because now the group of peope that shoots the most paint has uninterupted play time. If you're not a BYOP field you may want to consider some kind of minor fee for having the speedball field made exclusive.

As far as other perks, well if you can afford it it's not a bad idea to provide team discount on paint, or a seperate fill station by speedball fields, or minor things like that.

Because, no matter what you want to say about rec ballers vs. tourney players, the averge tourney player plays more often then the average rec baller. You may get 10,000 visitis from rec ballers a year and the same number of visits from tourney ballers. But, in most cicumstances, those 10,000 tounrey visits will be spread out among fewer customers. Those high traffic repeat customers are a great source of income that is easy to please. With several thousand different rec players of different skills and different wants it's tough to have a program that satisfies them all. But, with a realtivly small and more focused group of tourney players it's easier to tailor to their needs and keep them coming back to your field beinging more tourney players that want the same things.

It's just smart business have policies in place to keep the more dedicated players happy. Obviously don't pour manure on rec ballers, and don't compromise their good time, but if you can put some perks out there for the guys that are going to be at your field a few times every month it's only stupid not to.

Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

I say yea and no. Well for casinos they try to treat everybody nice, however the big spenders get special treatment. In paintball the tourny players spend the most money on markers and esspecially paint. So we should maybe give the toury players discounts so that they will come back and we can take more of their accuracy by volume money.

I agree with pete. I probibly spend what 4 average rec ballers do, I exspect not to wait in line for air and more paint.

exactlyToday at our coarse we had about 20 newbs and all together they shot 2 1/2 cases in 4 hours, and then when a kid who comes all the time played he used about 4 cases. Who do you think I will want coming to my field more.

Only under certain curcumstances. If they have brought a large number or players, say 2 or three squads worth and want some solo practice time, yeah. If they are regulars, but that can apply to woodsball players too. If they are field sponsored, why not. The real difference in my opinion is whther tourny players get special treatment because the field owners and managers like them or do they feel they should be treated different. I was getting better treatment becasue I know the field owner and managers and they knew that if they needed help I would be there. Its different if you demand special treatment because you area tourney player. Thats crap.

If a tourny player is alone he gets no special treatment. If a tourny team shows up and are not known and no special arrangements are made, then no special treatment. So just based on being a tourny player, NO, they do not/should not get preferential treatment.

However as stated by many before me, most tourny players are known on the fields that they play on regularly. This recognition garnishes benefits. They are given preferential treatment based on their perceived knowledge. Most of the time they don't have to be coddled, so the field/refs can concentrate on the rec players rather than dedicate specific resources to those tourny players. Most of the time the field owners will give the tourny players special treatment via speical paint prices or BYOP in exchange for field recognition by that team whenever they are competing at tournaments. If our team plays rec ball at any functions, we usually play at full price just like everyone else unless it is at a field owned by our sponsor.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
