    Paintball Fields

so i've been playing for about a year now, and i've had my fair share of different fields. i've had woods play, speedball, and a lot of rec ball. i'm used to most of the fields around the south bay area in california, and now i'm looking for some fun fields up in the danville/benicia area, where my dad lives. it would be really awesome to have him out for a few games, even just to watch my brother and i play. so if anyody up in that area has reccomendations, i'd love to hear about the fields up there. i'm looking for a friendly field with a fun atmosphere, nothing too tourney-like or aggressive. i'd like to meet some new people and try out some fun new fields.
    thanks loads
    mimi

          hey There !

i am from norcal ( northbay).

i would check out Sherwood in Vallejo or Norcal paintball park in petaluma.
both a great and have really nice people running them.

Sherwood is woodsball, Hyperball and some airball. super nice people but a little overcrowded.

Norcal is all airball but without the tourny attitude, its not crowded at all.
          Supernice people

i mostly play at norcal, im the guy with all Dye Gear and a blue angel.

check out the "sacramento pump day" post in the meet and greet forums. It's a friendly crowd on a private field and very family oriented. Great fun and nobody is shooting at you with insane rates of fire. Benicia is just under an hour away.

Located in Clayton, towards Concord. I imagine from Danville the drive should be 30 min at the most. I used to work in San Ramon, but never got a chance to play out there. Supposedly some very good rec ball over there.

Sunol, nice small field that I usually play at cause it's close. Just south of Pleasanton on 680, bout 15 min from Danville. Bunch of rec boys and girls, and a few tourney teams that hang out and practice there.

Oh, and good luck finding a lot of Mags in those fields. Been playing mostly at Sunol for the last two years, and the only Mags I see are my EMag and my ULE Mag.

Bunch of Cocker/Timmy toting whipper snappers...

Sorry, i don't know where you're talking about. Is it in the central valley? if so, Extreme Paintball in Modesto, CA is great. Also Wild Adventure Paintball in Woodland, CA is great too (or so i've heard)

Danville is over off 680, on the way to Concord. An area I affectionately call the "Far East Bay." Nice place, but gets a little hot during the summer (damned valley).

Welcome to AO! If you are looking for a field close to Benicia that is pretty laid back, I'd suggest Sherwood Forrest in Vallejo. Its mainly woodsball, but they have an airball field. Its been awhile since I have been up there, and it was my understanding they were trying to expand the airball side of it. Last time I went there was not an overabundance of the tourney-types.

I noticed your location is San Jose. There are quite a few of us local to you. You should consider coming out to one of the many AO days the NorCal AOers have. They just had on this past Sunday at SCP. There should be another one in a few weeks.

Don't mean to steal your thunder here Blennidae.

Last time I was at Sherwood was prolly 1.5 years ago. Good field, but it felt like speedball in the shade (which is both good and bad, depending on your Point Of View).

Paintball Jungle is about half a mile away from Sherwood Forest, and offers a more woodsball experience (at least from this NorCal guy's POV, and what do I know about woodsball??). I was there about two months ago, and it was great. The time before that I was about 16 years old (10 years ago). Great woodsball field. The only problem I've heard is with the owner, Magic Carpet Bob. Supposedly he can be a bit of an arse.

Like I said, we were there two months ago, and taking our sweet time getting out of the area (it was well past closing time). He asked us if we could expidite, and we did. No problems, no foul langauge from Bob. So take what you hear about him with a grain of salt. He may have been a bit zealous about his club, but for that I cannot blame.

If you do play at the Jungle, they still do play the Beeswax game (all the players vs their Hornets, a private club). Still much fun after 10 years of not playing that game, and I actually saw a warped RT Mag that one of the Hornets was playing with (mega-extra-special-bonus-points). For me, it's prolly the only place I know of within reasonable distance to play actual woodsball. If you' ve not already been there, it's defintely worth checking out.

No problem ghideon. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Its been a few months since I played at Sherwood, but its been many years since I have played at the Jungle.
