Yep, so we came home a day early. Us Germans are ridiculously out numbered (8-1). The reason everything went wrong is because they tried to save $$ and made all wristbands one color. From there it was down hill. I was a Captain in Firebase Charlie, and allies going against us might have seen me moon them

Overall it was fun. Not the way the actually game happened. I'm sorry to everyone who came here for the first time this year, since this year was so s(bad-word)y and unorganized. We are debating on whether or not to attend next year.

I was at fire base charlie too! Yeah, they sent me into the woods ( with about 8 guys) to stop them from comming up through the side. They sent about 30 guys... we didn't have a chance. By the time I got hit there were about 200 allies all around.
I think they took the hill in like 10 minutes. We only had about 50 people to their 200+...

All in all I still had a pretty good time. It should have been a lot better... ohh well.

i heard most scenario games are like this. you pay a ton of money and almost all the time one side completely dominated the other. At least w/ a day of recplay, they are able to switch up the teams to make it a little more even.

I was in St Lo. We had 140 people and our commander said that 600 Allies were coming our way and he was right. Did the Germans hold a single postion?

Yeah us Germans were ridiculously outnumbered this year. St. Lo was a massacre. 600 Allies to the German's 140. It was fun though.

Yea it sucked for us Germans. I dont see how they managed to mess up the numbers that badly, from what I gathered it was 800 vs 2400. Me and a friend were defending Normandy village w/ roughly 10 other guys. I had a blast fighting off small grps of about 10-20 Allies and hunting crappy snipers but at 12pm we had about 60 Allies pressing us from 3 sides. We managed to hold for a little while but most of us went down pretty fast. But technically we did hold the Village b/c my friend was still hiding in the church when time and the ref down there told us we held it but I guess it was never made official.

The other thing I didnt like was the lack of organization during the Alpha/Bravo area battles on Saturday. They should have set up more specified re-entry points b/c I saw alot of crap (both sides) where ppl would walk around w/ their barrel plugs in till they found a spot that suited them or behind/into the other teams lines positions before removing their plugs.

My friend and I didnt bother to play the night game and on Sunday (partially b/c the t-storm soaked our stuff) b/c after Saturday and both Mini-games, I was just sick of losing due to being severly outnumbered. For the most part it was really dissppointing for my first trip to D-day. The guys at the Bunker will have to do alot to reassure the sides will be better balanced to get me to come back next year

From my understanding, the reason for there being an off balance in sides was that a lot of germans could not read the "German Orientation" sign and accidently went into the Allied one. So they got Blue hopper covers and were absorbed into the Allies. That is what I heard from a couple of reliable sources. We had about 15 people at the AO BBQ on Saturday night including TK and Clare. Pictures and such will be posted later.

You just have to find a good producer. A good scenario producer wont let the teams get rediculously off-balanced. Organization of big games is very difficult, especially with games of that magnitude. I usually stick to the smaller games (200+ players) for this reason. I have been attending TAW games and have been totally satisfied. One more than one occasion the producer re-organized the team structures to balance the game (and he did it well, I might add).

His other games have been fun and even, but this year the way he messed up is the wrist bands. Last year(s) they had red and blue wrist bands, so germans had to to go german orientation.

you heard wrong dude. the major promoters do not let this thing happen. check out a MXS, Viper, MPP, Blackcat, or one of waynes games. do not judge all scenario games based off D-Day.....D-Day is a monster all by itself.....

You guys are so off-base. The numbers were 1695 allied, 1615 German...go check the site if you don't believe it. You do the math...how does that make it 'like 8 to 1'? You flat got your butts kicked...that's all there is to it. I was at St. Lo....we had maybe 200 guys, not 600. It should have only been about 160 but the driver dropped the Canadian Airborne in with the 82nd by mistake. Most of the Canadians went on to Green Bridge anyway. The Allies were so dominant because we had better intelligence through the snipers and communication. We even had our tanks put on hold because they dominated so heavily (in an attempt to 'even it up'). Great PROPS to the Special Ops tank unit...they repeatedly took down the Geman tanks even when outnumbered. Firebase Charlie took 18 minutes to overrun, again mostly because our advance patrols kept the Germans out of the trees. That would have been a major obstacle. You have to look at it objectively, quit trying to find excuses for not being victorious.
yeah, organization was a little light...and the mix-up with the hopper covers was pretty silly, and fresh water would have been nice in the camp as well as a constant supply of CO2 AND HPA at the dead zones...but try organizing 3500 guys into one game. I think overall it was done well and will probably be back next year (this was my first time).

To Big Mac and Blitz ..

Big Mac ... yeah the numbers you posted were right. But many of the German players did end up on the allied side because they didn't know what they were doing.

Our group talked to some of them. Many of them decided to hell with it and just wanted to play. It wasn't just the numbers being off .... it was also a supply problem with many of the German positions. At the Wall we had to walk an hour round trip just to get air and paint because the resupply point didn't exist for us Germans. Many of the players just ended up walking 30 to 45 minutes getting supplies ... and then resting because of the heat ... then walking another 30 to 45 minutes back to the wall ....

We held you at the Wall for a long time. Our defenses were killing you .... it's when we started running out of air, paint, and players that we started loosing the war of attrition to the allies and got over run.

We're looking into the cost of setting up our own air station and other plans. We're taking the Wall again next year if we can afford it, and you'll never get off the landing craft. We're buying a huge amount of paint and we're going to have it with us ....

We're already pushing for control of the Wall so we can get it set up and done right. As your General Patton once said, "We're gonna push these guys right out of the desert and into the sea."

Blitz ... Don't get the Armotech. I had one and it was a hunk of junk. It worked ... like twice for me and then I could never get the marker to shoot over 220 fps. And 220 was on a good day. I sent it in to get fixed at TacticalMarkers and they claimed to fix it and sent it back ..... didn't shoot properly as usual. I used the gear they suggested ... nothing. They replaced it .... worked good for four more games then went down the tubes. And this isn't an issue of neglect .... I ended up knowing the marker better then Tactical Markers and can tell you what is wrong with someone elses just by shooting it .... All it is .... All a Armotech REALLY is .... is a cheap knock off of a spider/F4 .... Save yourself the headache, they may look cool but that's where it ends.
I've got an A-5 now and it outperforms any 65 or 66 I've come across. Plus you have to learn EVERYTHING about the marker because there is no REAL technical support for the product. And if you order parts ... SIMPLE PARTS like springs or clips or stock wrenches or ANYTHING, you will have to wait ... and wait .. and wait. I've been waiting for a Clip Enhancement Kit for my Zeus for over 2 months now. TacticalMarkers says it's in stock along with the rest of my parts order .... yet they have not sent it. So either they are so stupid that they don't know how to send out a product to a customer, or they lie to their customer. Seeing how they sent my marker and it's replacement to me I can only assume that they know how to send product out .... which means they lie .... When I get my Zeus fixed I'm selling it. I refuse to shoot another Armotech product again. If you want something that works, gets AGD ... Get Tippmann .... but don't buy a product that is in current legal battle with itself as to who owns the name Armotech .... it's clear that since they can't figure that out, that they can't even run a buisness.
Here's the kicker .... Armotech tells everyone that their manufacturing was moved to the states to help speed up delivery and keep customs from tying things up when they are shipped from China .... well .... as TacticalMarkers stated in a recent forum post ... their gear is once more tied up in Customs and hence you have to wait until they release it which is a unknown date. It's made in China and that's where it should stay. It's crap.
