That's probably just so you don't go deaf
Putting a sock/plug/other object in the barrel wouldn't make much difference, unless you covered up all the porting in the barrel by doing it.

) This is only with the Viking though, it may work with other guns but I don't recommend you try it, as guns running on higher pressure may damage their internals by having all that pressure forced back into the gun. And of course, the amount of air used will vary depending on the type of gun, rate of fire, and velocity setting.
this works on bushies and imps too, i dont know if it saves air tho, but it makes it more quiet, very nice when running around ur house bunkering the dog and what not
