Magazine and photos

Hey all,

Anyone here ever try to get their photos into Magazine? Or anyone know who to talk to about trying to get photos into magazine?

I have a Good camera now and starting to take ok photos, so i was thinking of trying.

I havent tried to get photos in, but I am trying to submit articles, and so far I havent gotten responses asking where to send em

I was thinking of writing an article on the up coming "Star Wars" Big Game the local field is holding.
Then another couple for the "Alien vs Predator" and "Matrix" games later in the year.
I was inspired by a very poorly written (seemed like something my 8 yr old would have written) article that was published resently in one of the mags.

go to the magazines web page or email the editors department and find out EXACTLY what format they want. I have never submitted pictures but I have articles, and I know that they trash everything that is not exactly to their specifications. Most editors have very specific regulations on things like margins, headers, titles and even the format you send it in on. Im sure pictures are the same .. Also, you may have to send them in 3,4 or 10 times before they get accepted.

It's a shame no paintball magazine editors hang around in this site on a regular basis, you'd think it'd be a lot easier if you could just ask them. Oh well.

when I read the title, I thought you wanted to get a picture of you in a magazine, not photos your took.

You have some good shots, I think. You seem to have a pretty good eye.

Photos are usually published with an article. So if it's a story about a big game or a tourney, you need to photograph an event they are covering. Even then, most wroters take their own photos for those articles, and they are usualy contracted in advance for big events like SPPLAT or IAO. The photos used to illustrate articles on tactics and other such are more wide open, but they probably have archives of photos already.

So your best bet is to submit your photos with an article, written by yourself or a friend. For formatting info, if you can't get anything from the editors, try asking an experienced writer like Tyger or Meph.
