    Pants or not?

My local feild requires pants, that is, no shorts alowed. I have never heard a satisfying justification for this rule, and I like to play in shorts when it is hot out. What do you think of feild rules about long sleeves and pants? Does anyone else like to play in shorts and no shirt?

Pants or not eh? Well, this is an epic question....
Pants: Keep you warm in the winter; Protect the legs from abrasions; Can look cool; Serve as a napkin or similar when needed.

No pants: People look at you funny; You feel free as a bird; The entire lacking of pants aura about you makes you automatically uber awesome; You can show off your piece; there are others I'll think of them.

Overall I'm going to have to say "no pants". Thanks trains are bad, you've helped me make an important life decision because from now on...I'm never wearing pants.

its because of the ability to hide hits and wipe them easier off of skin, than it is cloth. Thats the reasoning. Nppl and PSP are the same way.

I would never play in shorts, even playing down here in So FL, despite the massive amount heat its like the safest thing to do, because our fields are covered with fire ant farms, the field is to cheap to have them someone kill all the farms.

Yeah I understand the reasoning behind the rule but it made me sad too. I played exclusivly in shorts untill I joined up with my local team. Now that I have the stupid things I usually end up wearing them since I spent the money for them....

              More BS IMO.

Any hit that BROKE on skin is going to leave at least a temporary welt on skin. Meanwhile the guy I nailed in the pant leg slides it off leaving no evidence. Add in all the bounces loose clothing generates, and the argument falls apart.

Nothing wrong with shorts... I almost always play in Dye pants and t-shirt though... Stupid rule in the rec environment, IMO...

Shorts with knee / shin guards are just as good as full pants, IMHO. I'veplayed like that, it's VERY comfortable. Calf hits can sting, tho.

But if it's a rule, it's not a bad one. Mainly it's some protection the field can make you wear to prevent scrapes and abbrasions.

so even some rec fields are pants only? WTF if ur not playing a tournie whats the big deal, if you have to wipe playing rec ball you are a sad sad man/woman. I was told a few months ago at a tournie in ocean city MD that pants were required due to an insurance reason? The refs never quoted the nppl rules. In pro and semi pro levels I totally understand pants and jerseys tucked into pants, that makes sense. But when Im out rec'ing on a sunday afternoon I should be able to wear speedos if I want! Im to sexy for my pants! to sexy for my pants what u think about that!

Shorts and a t-shirt for me, every time I play. Besides, other players underestimate me, 'cause I look like a n00b.

i say either is fine. is there any rule against t-shirts as opposed to long sleeves? because i have played in shorts and it is pretty hard to make a really clean wipe off ur skin. (I am not one to cheat and wipe, it was after the game I wiped it, so dont read this post like I tried wiping ) hey look, i finally reached 50 posts, i know, not near as many as most people, but o well, i'm proud lol

hrm. sounds like kindof a strange rule.

I guess if i owned a field I would be more concerned about my patrons getting heat stroke with no medical attention nearby than I would about them getting a boo boo on their legs. Anyway i just tuck the pant leg under the bottom of my kneepad so I might as well be wearing shorts anyway.
