I can't for the life of me figure out what the difference is between xball, airball and hyperball. to me, it's all speedball - start some guys at one end, start some other guys at the other, put a flag between them and have at it. Is there a technical difference or are they just the same thing?

You're right they are all speedball, but....

Hyperball - It's a type of field, you know the ones with all the black pipes



Airball - again it's a type of field, the type with inflateable bunkers



Now X-ball is a certain format that you play speedball in. You play a bunch of matches against the same team and get a point for each match you win. It's kind of similiar to hockey the way the game is formated. But it's speedball just like anything else. Oh and it's usually played on an airball field.

Ok xball needs be put in a different category because there are aspects in the way it is played that are so much different then speedball.
1 there is coahing allowed and he acts also as a towel guy in case the team is just getting hammered.
2 there are team rotations that need to take the field for each round. ok the hockey analogy was a good one.
3 the teams need the be bigger (at least 15) the a speedball team and pit crews are also a plus.
4 there are twenty minute periods, not games. So the teams can play as many games as they can within that twenty minute period. Some periods can see as many as twenty games played.

but its still the same as speedball, as the rules are the same, theres just more games
