Drop Forward/Tom's Tech Tips

I don't want to make 2 posts, so instead I'll just put both my unrelated questions in one.

First Question: Is there a drop forward that you'd recommend? I have an RT ULE, and a 68ci crossfire tank. I don't want one thats heavy, but it *must* be available in black.

Second Question: Do Tom's Tech Tips still run in APG? Was thinking about subscribing, and this would be enough to kick me over the edge.

Unfortunatly, I live in the middle of no where. Literally. The nearest shop is a $300 plane ticket away. So, I don't really get a chance to try anything out, instead just order it online and hope I like it. Of course, if I don't like it, I can always send it back, but I'm still in the same situation...I don't know where to start. So thats where you all come in, let me know what you guys like, and why. Maybe I can get one I like on my first try by hearing what you guys have to say

I use a Shochteck Mini-Stubby drop and a shochteck on/off ASA with my tank. I've found that this is the most comfortable setup for me.

Next time you are at your local field, see if you can try out some markers with different size drops/rails. You might want something different than I do.

First question

I found some old school Dye drops - like 1.5" maybe 2" forward that the ASA bolts on from the bottom with two screws (the same as it would on the bottom of an intelliframe). This is the setup I use on my E-mag with the 68 Crossfire tank. It makes the gun longer than most people like, but to me it just helps stabilize it against my shoulder. Hope that helps.

You may want to look into a cradle. I still have my 7 inch cradle lying around here somewere. They make your gun very compact but its much harder for me to walk it.

if you want a drop try a mini or micro shocktech drop. However, id highly reccomend a unimount or rail drop. It might not be for you, but try it, theyre very comfortable.

as for the magazine, definatly dont buy apg. Id reccomend facefull or p8nt.

There is a rather sudden (in paintball years) craze of less is better. However, I have always found that whatever will balance the gun is better, at least for me. In the case of the Mags I have, the typical 4 inch forward variety balances both my old Mag and my XMag quite nicely. I know most may set the tank to use as a "stock" but I've been around so long that I still use a stock. This way, I get both balance and something to butt against my shoulder.

For comfort and functionality, the shock mini drops are great. They move the tank forward a little, but don't drop it too much. Bigger drops, like the shock long drop, give more balance and comfort, but also add to your vertical profile. If that doesn't matter to you, go with a longer drop.

About your mag(azine) question: I don't think they have that feature (anymore), but I can't be positive. What I CAN tell you is APG is quite a terrible paintball magazine, compared to the alternative. I would highly reccomend PB2X or Facefull. They're really well-done magazines, as opposed to APG with it's same rotation of stories, surprising lack of (in my opinion) cool pictures, and extreme amounts of stupid spelling and grammar errors.

Plus, if you get PB2X, you can pester Josh about it here on AO.

personaly, a shocktech micro and a duckbill works perfectly for me. There is no on/off capability, but i figure its one less thing to go wrong.

Really no drop, I've seen a 15 degree tilt upward, it was really nice and tight. I don't like useing bottom line running inback of my trigger. I like it directly under my trigger handle. That will work nice for a 68 ci.
