can someone give me the lowdown on compressed air?

One more week until I order my ULE custom. Decided on a ultralite barrel... all that's left to take care of is my air system. When I played a lot years ago, I always used co2. Any compressed air tank brand recommendations would be great. I'm probably going to buy a used tank, looking to spend $100 or under. I realize that will probably get me a very heavy tank, which is not the end of the world for now. I just want something that's going to be safe and reliable, and not put this gun too far over my budget. A couple auctions that have caught my eye so far are:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

I know I'm taking a risk ordering this kind of thing online.. and I still may just go to the retail store for a new one. Problem is I hate retail paintball, I'll know I'm getting a low end tank and spending way too much.

jusdging by seller feedback, you should be ok with either, i HIGHLY recommend not getting a 47 tank though, may not even last you a game, and running out of air is not something you want to have to worry about

from what i hear AVOID the 3a products. you have the right idea with a high output tank, have you looked in the F/S/T section of this forum? more likely to find a good deal

i shoot conservatively but i can play a day and some times another half on one fill off my 88/3k stubby on a retro valve with lvl 10

What does the 47 number mean? I was under the impression that the number of balls is dependant on the PSI.. Ideally I'd like my tank to last me just over half the day, which for me is usually about 600 balls. I could live with 500 shots on a tank, but not less..

            47 cubic inches.
            3000 pounds per inch.

So bigger the tank, more shots! Also, more psi, more shots too!

But yes, STAY AWAY FROM 3A. Their products are horrible and customer service stinks.

            quikkk and i win.

well pbgear has a crossfire 68ci 3000 steel for $114. Read nothing but good reviews about crossfire on pbreview. Any estimates on #shots for that setup? Xvalve lvl 10 intelli etc... its a little over my budget but it sounds like a 47ci could be a pain in the ***.

One fill should get you about 600-700 shots.

                Don't forget a tank cover!

                I recommend going with carbon-fiber...

I have a 3A tank, and it works perfectly fine. The new ones have Center Flag Hyperflow 420 regs I believe.

OK 3A has somr of the the best looking bottles on the market. But thier output and quality suck, period. It is one thing to have a hopper that is to slow for your gun. But to have an air system that cannot keep up with your gun is just sad. They should just make stickers, for that is the only I like of their.
As for a brand to look for, try ACI, NitroDuck, Crossfire or Pure Energy. All have been around and used by pro players.
