    Newbie to Pumps, help needed

First off, I'd like to say "I'm Back!", after a short leave I am back on the scene, and have decided to go the way of the pump.

Now, I have decided on a sniper. The only problem is, sniper II or sniper III? What are the differences? Any help would be appreciated.

If you're looking at that style, then go for a AM-P Illusion.. much smoother action and hella fast considering its pump. I love my Illusion.

As well, Illusion's can be converted for legal stock-class play. Snipers cannot. For the record, a Sniper II is a full size body, a Sniper III is a "mini" body.

Beat me to it Sixx. However...if you think you may want to play semi automatic as well, just remember that you can put Cocker pneumatics on a Sniper to covert it to semi...not the case with an Illusion.

On that note - try both styles of pump if you can...I personally prefer the under barrel type (Sniper 2/Illusion). My phantom has the around-the-barrel pump similar to a Sniper 3, and I've looked into an undercocking kit to fix that. Everyone has their preferences, but it sure is easier finding barrels when they don't have to fit through the inside of your pump handle...

You may want to check out Sterlings as well. www.bunkerboyz.com (i think) carries them, as well as phantoms and illusions. I just got one used here on AO, and it's sweet.

I originally thought I wanted a cocker/sniper hybrid so I could switch, but it started to appear to be too much of a hassle.
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

Go for an '04 CCM J2, or a Series 5 if you can't afford the J2. Both have 86 degree 'vertical' slider frames and autotriggers - something you won't find on the Sniper. And, instead of being built by WGP, they are built by people who actually know what they're doing
                My feedback

Made in USA - it matters.

i also prefer the under cocking types. i came up shooting pump sheridans and just got used to it i guess. i reccomend trying both styles if possible, you never know what you'll like.

i shoot a sniper i built with a chipley pump kit. kind of pricy for a pump kit, but well worth it once it's tweaked.
you can build a nice sniper for not much money if you have basic skills, it's not difficult at all.

at almost any given time, you can piece together a sniper from parts right here in the for sale forums.

                  Florida peeps...step up!!
