    A barrel kit thread.

I have a 12" lapco bigshot. I like it. As long as the paint rolls through it I'm happy with the accuracy. I do not think paint match is super important on an automag.

I need something for those occasions where the feild paint is freakishly large or small, though, and .692+ one piece barrels are hard to find. So I am looking at the little barrel kits, you know the ones with 3 or so 1 piece backs and a tip. I want the longest effective length possible. I want 12" length. SOOO many people make barrel kits nowadays!

Any suggestions? I want inexpensive as possible, but has to be quality.

J J Edge Kit is the best barrel I have ever tried. The stock sizes include a .685, .688, .691, .693 The great thing about JJ Edges are the fact that you order backs of ANY size. When I bought my kit I did so directly from JJ, I just wanted a stock kit, but I wanted longer backs made from SS. When I pplaced my order they asked if I wanted any specific bore sizes, I really didnt see the need for specifics, so I just went with the standard sizes in the kit, but I had the choice. I would reccommend calling JJ Performance and asking about it. IMO you really CAN'T go wrong with JJ Performance. Good luck

A Custom Products 3+1 Kit sounds like a perfect fit - though that'll set you about $140 in the hole. Alternately, you could buy 3 one-piece CP Classic barrels in three different bore sizes and save a whole $5 (they're $45 each). I'm leaning the one-piece classic route myself, as I've learned over the last year that I rarely use anything outside of a .685 and on very rare occassions something > .690.

I do have a question I'd like to add to yours though, for those who have had experience with several different kits and one-pieces. Are barrel bore sizes generally uniform? Is Smart Part's or J&J's measurement of .685 the same as what is found in barrels by CP, Evil, etc? QC issues not withstanding (like with older gen Freak inserts), are there brands that always seem to be the wrong size from what the manufacturer states?

Keep your eye on LAPCO. They'll soon have .693 SnapShot backs (along with .687 and .689).

If you have the ULE body check out Empire 4 peice kits. 3 backs, one front, and only $100. Not too bad of a price. Empire's
And more from Empire But that's only if you have the ULE body.

If your happy with your Big Shot why not get either a Micro or Autospirit from Lapco. That will help you on the small end. Micro is .684 and Auto is .682 I think. As far as larger bore Not really sure on that. Maybe CP.

I also have an Edge kit and am super happy with it. The fronts are available from 8" to 16".
Paint match is important that is what is good about J&J, you can get any backs you want to fit the paint you like

I heard good things about the Sanchez kit's but I was under the impression that they are still not available only the cocker threaded G3 kit is available...thanks SP
