How do I milling my rail?

I was thinking about doing some milling to my RTP rail. I will also be taking some extra meat off of it too. I have almost every modern wood working tool avalible to be including a drill press. So could you guys and gals help me out with where it is safe to cut and etc. Which grain sand paper should i use to polish it too?

    Thanks a lot,

you can't mill it with a drill press truse me, i've tryed really what you need is a nice Mill/drill and wood tools won't do much to the aluminm.

minimag dont use a dremmel, it will really mess it up. you need a mill machine. send it to rouge, he does some awesome work and he is very specific about what you want. use a 550 grit paper to finish it off, or some really fine steel woll works best.

Thanks for the replies you guys. Does anyone know how much he would charge to just cut the extra meat off?

            Thanks,

I dont know what you guys are talking about but I have been able to customize lots of stuff with a drill press or dremels. I have a lot of ULE rails that I have done with my drill press... you just need the right bits and imagination/skill.

What kind of bits are needed for doing this?

I unfortunatly do not know the name of the ones I have used but they are usually cone shaped and have cutting ridges on the sides to be able to cut into material such as aluminum.

Obviously a drill press would take longer but the quality is the same.

i'm telling you this now do not mill with the drill press unless it was desighned for milling X and Y's

I'm just going take some of the extra weight on the inside of the rail out, not do custom milling.

u mentioned u have a ule, u dont need to take off weight, it is already light. also, as said, dont use cone only use flat bits. and you reelly should check to make sure u have an x or y press, otherwise you wnt be ale to get the angles that you want.
