    Is this true?

Ok, i was talking to a guy that plays Divsion 3 X-ball, not like that matters or anything it just sounds cool. . Ok, but we were talking about barrel kits and i told him that i was looking into a freak kit. He told me to get an Aluminum back instead of a SS back, and i gave him a look. He told me that the Aluminum back is stronger then a SS Back because there arent any weak sections. So my question is, is an Aluminum freak back stronger then a SS Freak Back?

Aluminum is very soft when compared to SS, SS is always going to be stronger then aluminum.

    He's a crazy mofo.

I'd recommend looking into the MatchStick from www.macdev.net for $140.00 an awesome deal and a great barrel

The aluminum back is ALOT lighter, though.
      My feedback is available here.

Um what is he talking about. Because I can not see the logic in his statement. An aluminum back is stronger then a SS back because it has less weak spot?

Let us pray for this person.
The only benefit that Aluminum has over SS is that it is lighter. And the SS backs and SS inserts were made because ppl were complaining about breaking, bending, or chipping their aluminum backs and inserts.

Given the same material size SS will be stronger. That's not the case with the Freak Backs tho. The SS backs are significantly thinner than the Aluminum versions. Take a look:

From what I have read the SS versions are far more fragile than the Al versions, simply because they are so thin in the middle.

Personally I would just stay away from all things Smart Parts.

Hexis, thats what i was talking about. That weak spot in the center of the Freak, is it easier to bend/break then an aluminum back?

Quit doing the superman into the bunker and you won't have to worry about it.

I have no personal expernace with either one. I have just read reports of bent/broken SS backs. Never read a report of a bent Al back. It does appear to be a very weak point in the design. The tube is cut into there to show the insert color.

I'll stick with my hardened Titanium thanks. (LongBow).

hes sort of right, the SP SS backs are alot thinner than the AL back, thus more likely to break, but if they were the same size SS would be stronger no question.

there were reports of bent alum backs back when the freak came out but nothing in the last couple years.havent heard any issues with the SS. I have one of each with no issues with either. But I learned a long time ago not to "throw" myself into a bunker. Watched a team-mate break his leg. last time he played he broke his hand .

                        i would get SS

ive seen alot of backs be bent a little out of shape, then the guy would get massive ballbreaks. blendery-like

the weight isnt even noticable, and theyll last longer in the long run.

for those who are worried about the weight itll add...
                        my setup is:

                        Dye matrix
                        Boomstick
                        Halo
                        Dye Throttle 70 ci.

turns out to be around 10.5 lbs

alot of people have guns heavier than that, but im 5'4'' 100 lbs, so if that little amount of weight is still bothering you.....

                        definitly dont take up scuba...

By your own admission the SS backs are weaker (due to their construction). That more than 'sort of right", that's just plain "right".

Many have reitterated it here, the SS is weaker. What makes folks think it will last longer? Cubic inch for cubic inch SS is stronger than AL, but the backs are very different designs.
