Does anyone else have friends that cant seem to keep plans?

i was planning on going to team night at boston paintball tonight with two of my friends. i made solid plans with them about 4-5 days ago, and today at about 2 one of them IMed me and said that he couldnt go because he had to paint a fence for his dad, which for some reason slipped his mind until a few hours before leaving. this is the third time in a row that he had bailed on going paintballing at the last minute. in fact, one time he didnt even call and just didnt show up. then, just now, 15 minutes before picking him up, the other friend called me and said he couldnt go. i asked him why, and he said that he woke up late, then had to mow the lawn for his dad and do other chores, and had just finished and didnt have time to clean his guns before he left. i said that i could clean his mag for him in 5-10 minutes, and then he said that he just didnt feel like going today, and tried to make other excuses about how he probably didnt have enough money anyway (which he should have known a long time before) and how there was probably too much traffic because of a baseball game tonight. does anyone else have friends like this?

i guess ill be surfing AO tonight instead of playing...

I regularly miss games and dates I commit to. The other socal guys can attest to that. But that's because I'm married and have a busy schedule. Just my priorities. Sounds like you're dealing with kids/teenagers tho, and they're unreliable huh? hmmmm.

i have a friend who traded his nice bike for a full gx-3 setup, including tank, mask, everything. played with it for a few months, then decided he wanted to sell it. sold it for like 500 bucks, for everything, then decided he wanted to get back into it like 3 days after he sold his gun. i helped him buy all this stuff, getting him to get a ule classic mag. we played last weekend, and he was all pumped up about his new gun. he tells me two days ago that he needs to make money to pay for a new cellphone, so hes selling his stuff on ebay, 2 days after we played. so yesterday i decided to take advantage of this and bought his bran new pmi 68 45 tank, and his bran new evolution w/yboard (both used only the weekend before) for $190. so i guess i came out on top, but it was a bit annoying of him to go back and forth, especially since we were talking about getting a team together .

There's nothing stopping you from going by yourself. Most of my friends stopped playing years ago, so I started going by myself. I've made tons more new friends that way. And the added bonus is that after years of playing rec together, its easy to see who the dedicated ones are. Now I just make plans with the reliable guys.

Yeah I stopped asking my friends to go... They ALWAYS bail on me like 10 minutes before we're about to leave. Then I get pissed off and don't feel like playing.

I solved the problem by never asking anyone to go with me again. I just show up by myself and play.

It is true. I have paintball friends and college friends and redneck friends and attorney friends. They don't mix. Your regular friends are never as dedicated to paintball as you are. The only choice is to diversify get some new paintball friends and some regular everyday friends. Then you won't have to count on friends that are ambivalent about playing.

It is better that people think your a dumb@$$ then for you to open your mouth and confirm it.

I hope soon to accomplish that alot of my friends quit paintball and only about 2-3 are still in it to play. But beign without a license it's a pain in the arse to get rides and have money to hang out and go out to eat and then have money for balling. Oh well.

it sounds like this is a common thing for paintball players. for example, on my team this happens nearly every time we try to play. sometimes the person who's giving the rides drops out at 11 pm the night before and we have to get our parents to cancel plans in the evening. for some reason the average paintballer seems to have little dedication.
