MXS and Dollack (along with a few fields) have done Stargate games.

I was a Jaffa priest at the MXS one summer before last. Pretty cool. They built a couple pumps into staff weapons complete with JT speed pods for the tip for the Goa'uld to use instead of LAWs. Insertions went through a mock-up of the gate. I'm the medic in the top pic, actually.

I too think Red vs Blue fun to do. "It's like we're real soldiers!" Of course the best part would be having neutral medics that neither side really wants, have to rub aloe vera on a player's neck for foot shots, and become schizophrenic Sunday morning.

Wouldn't that mean both sides would have the same command?!

"Why are there 6 pedals if there are only four directions?!"

Dude Miscue, do you ever think about what the 9/11 Comission is proposing?
The fact that they WANT an International Anti-terrorism task/strike force of some kind
and the commander sorta CIA affiliated but a branch of its own (black ops)
+how they would respond to any situation
        Just like the Book

          Miscue,

Odd you should say this. I think it was Wyn who said if they wanna draw a big crowd to Shatnerball this year, they should do Red -vs- Blue. At the time, I didn't know what Red vs Blue was, not that I have seen a few episodes, I think it would be cool as hell.

I see where you are coming frfom with the vido game crowd and I think it might work. Maybe we'll have to talk to Tom. This might be the next up and coming thing

Well, it doesn't surprise me. But I'd like to see a huge Red vs. Blue event, trying to get the actual RvB people involved - maybe Microsoft if possible, online gaming sites and magazines, and the gaming and paintball community in general.

            Red vs. Blue, BIGGIE-sized!

Paintball Talk is the main forum for Automags.org. Here is where we talk about the sport of paintball in general and make announcements relating to the forum and website.

Umm, am I the only one on AO who doesn't know what Red Vs. Blue is?

                So... What is it?

Ok, that's some funny stuff. 'Course, I've only actually played HALO once...

Someone willing to do it - *Hint hint: How about for next Shatnerball?*

Contacting people at RvB and get them involved immediately. Make sure they are aware of SplatAttack and Shatner, so they are more likely to take it seriously and cooperate. Start hyping as soon as possible - once a basic plan for the event is in place and a nice website is made for the event. Contact VForce asking for gold lenses/special edition Profilers - if they take interest, they have an incentive to advertise for the event as well. Get the jersey made right away. Ask Microsoft if they would like to become involved somehow, since HALO is their product (along with Bungie).

Make sure vendors know about it well ahead of time - so they can plan on showing up, and also freely advertise the event for a good year.

The whole thing needs to look like it's going to be a good event first, then try to get the Internet E-Zines and gaming sites to start talking about it.

Create a lot of anticipation early on - get people planning, get people talking. This event can be done very wrong, or oh so right - with droves of people. The successfulness would rest on the shoulders of those organizing it - counting on them doing a great job.

Are you asking us to do or just getting us hyped up?

                            Reality check

It sounds like a good idea, because we're all fans...

But how would this actually be made to be fun on the paintball field?

The key elements of RvB appear to be: 1. halo based theme, 2. stupidity, and 3. absurdity.

While the latter two are undeniably apropos for paintballers in general, I don't see it as a good foundation for building something fun.

I can imagine, much like the characters in RvB, getting all rigged up to go to such an event, and upon getting there, wondering why I came to the event in the first place. Appropriate for the theme, yet not so fun.

I have to admit that I think the Stargate based theme would be more fun. And I HATE that TV series.
                            "Accuracy by aiming."

                            Definitely not on the A-Team.
