    Tom... Ever hear of MMC

    Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites.

Its as light as alumimum and harder than steel.

Some composites exceed the tensile strenghth of steel.

It has been used in brake drums, rotors, brake calipers and as a driveshaft for the close to 375 horsepower c5 vette. Could be the strong bolt metal you are looking for.

    3m's Overview of MMC

Oh look those look like bolts!

Heres an intresting site helping you compare diffrent materials. Plastics, metals, superalloys lots of info. Perhaps it will help you find a good solution for the superbolts.

I hope you get this superbolt problem fixed.

Metal Injection Molding (MIM) has been around for awhile. The firearms industry has been using it for low impact parts for some time. I doubt that a MIM'ed part could take the stresses that the 'mag bolt endures. The sear edge would wear in no time. Even heat treated to somewhere in the 40-45Rc range would probably tear it up in short order.

yo 50 cal where do you play at? I live in Murfreesboro too so maybe we can play sometime. I normally play at franklin or chapel hill on weekends.
      Famous SEAL quotes:
"Give us your mind, and we will take care of your body"

"We aren't superman, he does things the hard way. Why leap tall buildings in a single bound, when you can blow it up and walk over the rubble"

"Pain is just weakness leaving the body"

"It is not my job to judge our enemies, that is God's job, it is my job to arrange the meeting"

"I will treat you all the same, JUST LIKE CRAP!"

I normally play at Hollow Buzzard. I've played a time or two at Chapel Hill, never played at Franklin. Meant to play at Franklin, just never got my rear end out there.
