    dyeing fiber wrapped n2 tank?

Hi .......... I came upon something interesting a while ago , and was curious if it was safe and everything.......

A few months ago , i decided i wanted a tank cover because the tank itself was fiber , and was really slick. So , instead of buying a normal cover , i decided to make my own by using a sock. Instead of using a normal white one , i dyed it red............ I tried letting it dry for a while ,but it didn't dry out all the way. I put it on my n2 tank ( not knowing it was still wet ) After leaving it on my tank for a week or so , i took it off and found out that it had colored my n2 tank ( perminately ) ......

Do you think this would hurt anything?

Its not supposed to "dry" after you leave it in RIT, your supposed to be it in a glass of water which will take away the excess coloring. Is it truely Red, like the whole thing?

yeah you might be able to dye it, but color won't protect it :-/ you might have to check with the hydro company because this might void them from filling/hydroing.

What I did was I dyed the rag in warm rit/water then put it out on a clothes line to dry......I guess it was too cold to dry.

Anyways, I was using a Mark-2 n2 system, and put the cover on the tank..I found out 2 weeks later that the tank had a permanant reddish color to it (but all labels were readable)

yea, as long as all the info on the tank was readable i dont see why you couldnt dye youre tank. it would look real cool with a blue dye.

                      Be careful

The dye may affect the strength of the fiber wrap. I would contact the tank manufacturer.
