    Personal Barrel Preference

What barrel size do you recommend when you play woodsball and speedball?

    12 or 14??

Also, would it be smart to get a 16 for the same price as a 14? Or does that just slow the ball down?

12 or 14 seems to be the most common and it is just preference, I believe anything over 14 is just overkill.

16" is great for poking through stick bunkers in the woods, and for moving around air bunkers.

That being said, I'm currently using 14"s as that's what I happened to get.

I play with a 12 in everything but airball. In airball I play with a 14 in order to manipulate the bunker better. 16's are nice and long to manipulate the bunker with, but imo, give up that advantage by taking longer to get the barrel pointed where you want it. I'd say, for a single all around length, go with a 14.

I like my 12 a lot, but i need to upgrade it because its the stock Spyder Xtra barrel

I was thinking of getting a 14" Lapco Big Shot barrel. I heard it was very accurate, but a little loud.

Check around the forums for used barrels, you can get nice barrels gently used for not a lot of cash. It's what I tend to do, being the cheap bastard I am.

I like my 16" MatchStick a lot, it makes my gun almost silent (Seriously the only thing you hear is like the bolt moving.)

Any-gun I put it on, makes it VERY quiet, it's Very accurate and cleans through breaks in 3-4 shots. I love it

I have 12"s and a 16" and I prefer to shoot my 16. Sometimes I like to switch it up and play with my 12 but that feels wierd, like my setup is way to short.

Breaks? What are these "breaks" you speak of.

                  Anyhoo.......

It is a preference question. My preference is 12" at the most. Moving around air bunkers is a highly overrated attribute of a longer barrel IMO.

Less noise and deep bush 'snyper' (as in hiding in 3' of bushes) are the only reasonable arguements for a much longer barrel.

But shoot what ever feels good to you.

generally i think the rule is to take a small barrel (10-12") for hyperball, a big barrel (14-16") for airball and for woods probably a 14" would be ideal

No barrel on a spyder will make it quiet, so don't worry about the loudness. Lapco's are a good choice.

I like 12 and 10 inch barrels. I have used a 14 before, but it felt to long. I guess what I'm tring to say is to go with the size barrel that you are use to.

Barrel breaks happen RR, No-matter the gun.

Between the two choices you have given I'm going with the longest of the two, the 14".

For woods I usually run a 16" for longer range accuracy. On the speedball field I usually run a 10" to keep the barrel out of my way as much as possible.
