I used to wear a cup religiously and got hit in it, religiously. Then I stopped wearing it and I stopped getting shot there. You tend to protect those areas that are not protected. I quit wearing one because of scenarios and they made crawling very uncomfortable. I have found that a hand towel hanging out of you pants or through your belt is both comfortable and practical for reducing the velocity of a ball.

I ws a rebel untill I took one in the nads....

I tried a bunker move in airball near the 50 and thought I had some cover by a teammate... needless to say it didnt work out.

I've been hit in the jewls by slapshots, sticks, kicked, and even by a rake. Nothing compares to a paintball.

finished my day of play, and I passed out a little while after I got home.

the miniscule discomfort of a cup is well worth never having to go through that again...

I've had two light hits in the crotch. First time someone was longballing from way too far. It hit me in the crotch, and then fell to the ground. Needless to say I found some cover (I was kinda taunting him). Didn't hurt, just surprised the hell out of me.

Second time was during a run through. Got hit close range (less than 15ft), but luckily I was in full stride, and didn't feel much.

Do I wear now? Hell yah. I used to wear Raven slider shorts with the built in soft cup. Now I wear some Nexed pants that have a soft piece of rubber in the crotch area. And, I'm highly considering wearing the shorts and the pants together.

Can't say I have been on the recieving end. Although about 4 years ago I was playing with wrist rockets (powerful slingshots) and this guy had dissed my aiming ability and was bragging about not having to wear any protective clothing. I am no master, I can be better with a slingshot than marker, and I could get good shots pretty consistently. Well, he was running, and stopped behind a tree. He didn't notice that the tree didn't grow straight up, and his lower half was exposed. So...yeah. Left a big mark. You can't chrono a slignshot...

If you have problems getting hit consistently, you have something wrong with you. I am 6'8", and have never got even close to being hit in the balls. Sure, people have probably aimed, but I get gogged or hit in the hand (I wear protective gloves religiously because of that.)

So, if you have a problem with it, protect it. And then figure out why you let someone shoot you there...
If I am wrong in my thinking, please let me know. If you think I am wrong and are too lazy to say why, don't waste anyones time by posting.

              Soft Cup

For those that don't like the hard plastic cups, there is a soft version on the market. It's a foam cup, I wear mine every game... quite comfortable. I've had it a long time now, can't remember extacly were I got it???? International Jock or something like that.

You know, I suppose it's the nature of internet forums that things get reposted over and over, but I gotta say, I never get tired of reading peoples nut shot stories. They always make me laugh.

I wear slider shorts. Regular cups are too uncomfortable for me.
