4.0 rocks your socks off. If I had kept my EMag until the AO day I would have had it flashed to 4.0, and right now IT would be sitting behind me.

Well, I wrote it because I was asked to - I had not planned on it. Why it won't get released is a money issue, and I agree with the reasoning behind it. It's a little disheartening that you guys don't get to look at what I painted yourselves, and only get to hear about it. But that's how things go - the reality of how this dirty world operates.Originally posted by RTDynaflowDid Miscue ever release why Tom wouldn't let it go public? Or did Tom ever say? I haven't been keeping up with the tech threads. From last I read, Miscue was trying to get Tom to give him the Ok to release it. He (miscue) has not seen any issues with FA, or such. Atleast from what I know... If FA issues were fixed, I don't see why He (Tom) wouldn't allow it public. Of course, I am not running a million dollar company, so I think TK knows a little more about this then me...
I know a lot of us would love a 4.x software public. Well, not me, I don't have an e/x mag
.
I believe I remedied the EMag's design flaw that results in FA (well, I think I did... it's at least a very effective solution) because I prefer to finish what I start - why piss away all that time and effort if you don't follow through with what you started... so I never gave up on it regardless of whether anyone will actually get to use it.
Here's a little history on what this software personally represents to me. I was unemployed, my relationship came to an end, I was incredibly frustrated with everything, and just really had a hard time finding a reason to even try any more. And then someone tells me this after I mention that I got turned down again: "I suggest you aim lower." It infuriated me so much that I could not see straight, and it would not go away. It still has not gone away - although I forgive who said it. I should not let it, but this sort of thing challenges my self-worth as a human being.
I needed something to focus my anger and frustration, and turn it into something positive and constructive - or I was just going to self-destruct. I like paintball, sometimes I like computers and stuff, it just seemed like the natural thing to do... and it turned out to be a good idea... so I started my original Q1.0. I would get up, work on it all day, think about it before I went to sleep, dream about solutions to problems, and do it again the next day. I spent a lot of time making it better... making it better... making it better. I did this for about a month, and it was a wonderful distraction. Then I get a call proposing AGD 4.x - and I think to myself: this is great... I've made something good enough to generate some interest... I'm gonna "aim lower" alright.
Believe me when I tell you that, AGD is not going to release or support it for good reason... and it needs to be this way
I'm glad that some of you got to use it, and seem to really like it. It makes me more optimistic in pursuing other time-consuming projects... knowing that I can complete something that won't be a POS.

i can really only say one thing since i heard about this whole 4.x thing. I just traded my impulse w/ was and everything else u can upgrade on it for a ncie emag, and i was really happy b4. Now, after reading a few of these 3.2vs4.x kind of threads, i get the feeling like 3.2 is dated and crappy software, and AGD doesnt ant to do anything about it. In short, it feels like AGD has turned its back on any elctro-mag users, which pretty much crushes my previous picture of them being excellent with customer support. I have to say, I can understand where they wouldnt have enough money to hire programmers to fix the code, but honestly, if there is a working 4.x version, wouldnt they stand to make money flashing peoples boards for them. Correct me if im wrong with all this, i definitely dont mean to flame AGD as a company, but its just a little disturbing how theyve seemed to almost drop any contuining support for emag/xmag users, at least software-wise.Comment

It's not a money issue with programmers (ie: me)... AGD got a good deal. TK pretty much summed up the sitution here: http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=153133 4.20 is right at that edge - of not working correctly. That's what 4.20 is - it's pushed as close to that edge as possible... while 4.00-4.01 went over it, and doesn't get the marker to work correctly, and suffers from EMI problems. Here's a vid demonstrating it, if interested: http://www.automags.org/~Miscue/solenoid.wmv I just taped the HES to the solenoid for convenience, but it does the same thing when inches away.Originally posted by Vash-HTi can really only say one thing since i heard about this whole 4.x thing. 1. Trigger released, but a shot is buffered
2. Solenoid turns off.
3. HES detects fake "trigger release" because solenoid is off
4. Shoot Buffered Shot.
5. HES detects fake "trigger pull" because solenoid is on
6. Go back to Step 1
This is the logic of how the FA loop with trigger released occurs. 4.20 partially or completely defeats step 5, breaking the loop. The "3.2 FA problem" where you had to flip the wires, is almost the same thing. Except the solenoid overpowers the trigger magnet's field - and even though the trigger is pulled the HES thinks that it is released. However, at least it stops because the solenoid doesn't overpower the trigger magnet every time. With the released trigger FA, there's no competing fields - which is why it stays sustained.
What's kind of interesting to me is how the sustained FA while the trigger released is present in 4.01 but not 3.2... or is it?
I haven't heard of anyone running across it with 3.2 yet.

I guess i can see where u guys are coming from, but with extensive testing of the software wouldnt you be able to be confident with releasing a new FA free version?Comment

Well, I'm pretty confident in the software. But it's too aggressive - tuned to the edge of not working like I mentioned. It squeezes out that last bit of toothpaste from the tube. What makes it good, is also its Achilles heel... and that's what this all boils down to.Originally posted by Vash-HTI guess i can see where u guys are coming from, but with extensive testing of the software wouldnt you be able to be confident with releasing a new FA free version?

However, some of us have 4.0 with zero problems. I love my version (THANKS MISCUE!) that was flashed for me at Nor/So-Cal AO Day last January. I do not have the full auto problems, but I still have a problem of keeping paint in my hopper...DANG my Emag is fast!
No, my gun will never be for sale.

There has to be some kind of solution to the problem. Ill bet it is something that is simple yet not obvious, and when you guys find out what it is you are gonna slap yourself in the forehead like, why didnt I think of that before.
Im not ragging on my 3.2, cause my emag is plenty fast, but I just dream of the possibility of having better software, cause in the paintball industry, thats what its all about, improvement. That and its pretty sad when my friend thinks that he can rip faster on his impulse, which maybe he can. I know, I know, its not the gun its the person. If that is true then how come I can rip faster on my friends shocker, or a DM4 faster than my own emag, which I have been used to playing w/ for a long time. It would just be nice if my emag was capable of the same.
Who knows, maybe its me and I need more practice on it. Im not meaning to discourage you guys, but encourage you.
I would pay for a flash to upgrade my software, although it would reconfirm my die hard AGD attitude if it was free.
Maybe I will just have to save up for a DM4.

If you cant shoot as fast on your mag compared to a schocker or other marker try playing with your trigger settings a little because if you have the trigger too light with not a good enough return you can actually see a decrease in your ability to rip on it... Sometimes speed is just in our head and it may seem like marker B shoots better than marker A because we want it to...Taking a long needed leave of the sport to finish school and tour the country
